Old people showing obviously, and a very small class but he had a jolly time anyway and was impeccably behaved as he hasn't done anything but hack for the last year, that and the creaky bits permit being on the forehand a bit ;), and I did think I best check I still had a canter transition before we went in. He got very excited about doing an extension across the diagonal (please let me do one!) and I think he thought it was uthopiaesque- the video does suggest otherwise but I'm not telling him if no one else is. At least the tie that was a Christmas present and the jacket, browband, reins and hat cover I bought just before he had to semi retire last year have now had a trip out too :D.

The judge made me smile as she said oh he looks like he could do a lot more than hack (they have in the past always seemed pleased when I said he was so busy) and I struggled not to say yeah, few issues underneath though, but at least that meant he didn't look too bad on the move - and Mum has done a cracking job of keeping his nose covered with the dodgy liver.

pic purchased for social media use, because although I showed mum how to use the phone, I forgot to specifically mention the zoom ;).

Ahhh he looks fab :) are you planning to do any more with him this year or is it too awkward now he doesn't live with you?

Ermm have booked my long weekends to coincide with the next two shows (held monthly) at this place ;) but it will be very weather dependent, mild and dry suits us. I think it is usually busier (it is a showing yard) but there was a lot on this weekend. I figured that way we could pick a bit. He was actually looking better going/feeling better than I expected he might, it's hard to tell as I hadn't been since easter I don't think :eek3: which was when I implemented the nasty ester diet ;).

He got a stack load of qualifications we won't use ;). We could go do the south west ponies show there next weekend (they have proper veteran qualifier stuff but again he wouldn't go anywhere anyway) but frankly I find them a bit stressful having been before- Richard hammond was the main attraction at the last one I attended, his wife was lovely with a veteran fell/dales can't quite remember!)

Brill :) few Frank things to look forward to then!

The myriad of things you can qualify is mind boggling isn't it?! I'm quite relieved to have Millie back BDing, it's made me quite happy to not investigate any of it, lol! Esp if z list celeb families take over the place :eek3:

I wish he could just go dressage, times are so much easier! Obviously he doesn't have to do anything but it is nice to have people say ooh you have a nice pony sometimes still ;) and get a nice picture (in case it is the last one :p) . Especially as mum doesn't ever really say that about him :D.

Thanks TFF and tiddly :)

Ooo, so smart! Great report
Your mum may not be able to work a zoom, but she sure can keep a horse in good nick (despite a little dietary intervention :p)

We're not mentioning that she fell off the old native pony hacking the other week either ;).

'Mum what are you feeding him?'
'What you told me to'
'What I told you last September heading into winter.....'

I think it was a combo of somerset grass over wiltshire grass which was much sparser, not having him on the mag ox, and him generally dossing, though I have had him leaner than I would like too at times because I have missed the fact that he is older and can take/needs a bit more. - I have had to get used to him not looking as hard fit with topline like he did last year, it definitely seems to have aged him a bit this dossing about, dumping my mother ;).

My sister is coming home from kuala lumpur at Christmas, she is already refusing to ride him :eek3: I mean look!

(He was less stiff than I was the following day while he spooked at a plastic bottle and later decided that a crisp packet was chasing him across the bridge- not the sort of bridge to be pissing about on- locked his neck and decided to make a run for it (he didn't get very far :rolleyes3:). TBF he is VERY predictable though, I can tell when he is plotting, I just don't think mum is quite tuned in yet (shes anglo tuned) and when he is being a tit at least he is walking out rather than doing his funeral procession impression which is much more irritating.
