To anyone who has their own yard!!
I bought my own field this year, one of my so called friends was having money trouble so I let her bring one of her ponies to my field for £10 a week. At first everything was fine. Over time it was more or more difficult to get money out of her. She has been doing various things, moving my stuff, opening my bales of hayledge, stealing my feed (silly cow keeps leaving the lids off). She also left the gate to the field open last week (luckily I have a strip of electric tape across the top). All of this she denies.

She owed me £60 livery money plus I charge her £2.50 per week for hay (considering her old yard charged £6 this is pretty good and I am actually loosing a bit of money). She kept putting her horse in one of my summer paddocks and as she was on her own she was getting stressed and churning the ground up. I said she has to put the horse in with mine, she said she was moving the horse as she can't get her out of the field with my 4 horses in there. In reality she just can't catch her horse as it hates her. She shouts at her, chases her and hits her.

I said fine just let me know when you are going. She was meant to bring livery money up last week and didn't turn up. I phoned to see where she was and she had the cheek to ask me to feed her horse! I asked if she had the money and she said yes (sounded like she was lying) I told her I would pick it up from her house and would phone her to get her address when I got home. Suprise suprise she didn't answer her phone.

My OH went to her work to get the money and she gave him £20, saying that she has paid and he must have forgotten. Next day he went she wasn't there. I text her and told her to move her horse on Saturday and bring up her money. I heard nothing all week. I text her on Friday and said this "Hi. Can you come and get her between 12 & 1 on Saturday. Otherwise you won't be able to get her out. thanks" (as we have changed the locks) And I got back.......Abuse.

So I have now been threatened with the RSPCA, the police and the taxman. Some friend!

She also said her horse has been stood knee deep in mud for weeks, it didn't bother her before, she wants her to live out. I also feed her horse for her during the week. She only feeds her chaff and sugarbeet so is obviously malnurished (she is an old lady as well). Last year she dropped loads of weight being stabled. She doesn't eat all of her food as she is sick of it. My 'friend' is blaming me for her horse loosing weight. I asked her how much she feeds her and she has shown me. She was quite happy to have her horse there until I wanted my money!

Moral of the story. NEVER let anyone on to your property who has a record as a lying, freeloading scumbag!

Choccy biccies if you got this far! Glad to have got it off my chest!

What a cheek. Don't blame you for wanting her gone - or for your warning to other people! Had to laugh re her threatening you with the taxman. For the pittance she should have been paying you per week -v- the cost of water rates, upkeep of your property etc etc it's not like you're going to be coining it in. Some people really do need to get a life. I just feel sorry for her horse having an owner like that.

Thanks for your support!

She had the cheek to demand that her horse be left tied up on the concrete driveway with her stuff ready for her to pick up! So I had to get her horse in, walk her across the field and then leave her on the driveway! Lazy so and so. Needless to say she didn't leave me any money. She was half an hour late and the poor little horse got stressed at being on her own and broke loose. Luckily the gate to the road was shut. We stood in the stable and watched her pick her up. When the horse saw her she ran away!

But at least she is gone. A friend of our came to pick her uo, now that poor woman is being taken in by her, but she has been warned!

I feel much better now!

Also she has not seen the farrier since July! Her toes are so long she could hardly walk on the concrete. Another few months they will start curling up from the way they look.

Friendship and business......oil and water.

Chalk it down to experience.and now wait for the backlash and she tells just about everybody she comes across just how mean you were to her and how glad she is to be away from you. I heard it all before, few years back had a very similar problem myself.as I think most YOs have done.

18months after I whizzed my problem livery off, she came back, cap in hand etc.she had been on just about every yard in the area..and she grovelled asking to come back.now money is money, business is business.and I did have room.....told her to get lost, never seen.or heard from her since.

I am just pleased to be shot of her. My OH told her he is glad to see the back of her! She would not face up to us today, just sent nasty texts, she is a 40 year old 'woman' who can't face up to a 22 year old!

The guy who's yard she is moving to is a no nonsense kind of guy so he won't stand for it. She has probably been telling people I have not been feeding her - I could not even feel her ribs when I checked her today! So she will most probably be laughed at. She is a compulsive lier though. She is also on a suspended sentance for hitting a police officer and was nearly evicted by the council for not paying her rent! What made me think there was a shred of decency in her?? OH says her eyes are too close together to trust her!

I guess I just felt sorry for her. I am not taking any liveries again, it was not my intention, I only did it to help her out. Nice to have my field back to myself!

Thanks for your support, at least I am not the only one who has had problems!

I know of a girl who sounds very similar to this but was quite a few years back now i think there is far to many people out there like this! Can sympthatise with you anyway i decided to share a yard with a "Friend" and i cant wait to find a place of my own again i think its 500 times easier just to keep your own horses away from other peoples and so called friends unless you have known them for many many years maybe... I will never share with anyone again either.

oooppps a daisy , doesn't sound like friends anymore , if she is doing all this then she is clearly a piss taker, unfortunately there are lots around how long were you mates? I had a similar experience, with a friend who i rode with for years ,she was only young , but still not talking all over a tenner, that she should have paid, for fuel , came down 30 miles to take her to cross country cause daddy was out of the country, didnt care about the money , it was the attitude of spoilt kid syndrome ,still let it go and she is still not answering phone , others say its cause she owes me a tenner personaly i couldnt give a flying [****] about the money, dont know what the hell is wrong with her , never mind

save all nasty texts and tell her it is you who will be reporting her for harrassment! Sounds like you are well shut of her and the poor horse.

This is why I have 4 stables which have 2 of my own horses in and OH gear and hay stored in the other two, not other peeps horses!

I just like lack of hassle and stress, plus the stables are pp for private use only (thank goodness!). Its easier for me to have a second horse of my own than to deal with other peeps!

I have known her for about 18 months, I always thought she was a little but of a loon, but she has got worse. She has taken another poor woman in now, she doesn't even like this woman but she thinks she does. I also offered her to come to mine as I have 3 horses at the time and if I took 2 out I couldn't leave the other on their own. I have four horses now so it is fine.

She obviously needs the money more than I do. She is a real skank though. She probably didn't like me in the first place! She is a typical user.

See how long it takes them so get sick of her chasing poor pony round the field, shouting at it and hitting it about the head when she tries to get on it. Poor old thing, having that fat moose on her!
