Hi there, I am wondering if anyone can offer some advice, I recently became a club member of BD, so the horse and I were able to compete for our riding club in freestyle DTM classes, which we both really enjoy.
Up till now we have only dabbled unaffiliated dressage, but now we are registered and can enter BD classes, thought would be fun to give it a go.
Anyhow my question is, a local venue ( Sparsholt) run regular BD classes for the music sections, but I do not know which to enter, prelim or novice level. our music is flexible so I can and have done both, by adapting floor plan slightly.

i have no idea if the standard in BD will be way higher than UA /Riding Club which is why i was thinking Prelim, but I much prefer riding the floor plan we did for our Novice recently where scored about 65% - it makes the test a bit more interesting.. any thoughts and opinions welcome.

I will try to post a link to our recent test if it would help with opinions :-} - ignore the final part, slight navigational error and sadly lost marks there ..

I don't think it is currently set to 'public' so I can't see it.

I would say try a prelim first, the standard is usually higher at bd as most people will have moved up from doing unaff (not always but mostly) you don't want to go to your first bd and feel intimidated or like you don't fit in with who you are against so you could use it as a marker and then decide whether to try the next level up x

Why not enter both? There is nothing to stop you, and you can pull out of one if you don't want to do it. If you are not doing it purley to win, but to have fun. It doesn't matter if you get a lower mark than expected but did love riding it.
