French link or lozenge??

They look fine but I think they are cheaper because the lozenges are not angled — Sprenger & NS have done extensive research into their designs and angled them accordingly.

The CS lozenges are actually at just the same angle as the NS verbindent and are also nice and shallow in shape which also helps reduce tongue pressure, but they do the mouthpiece with loads of different options on the cheeks, which NS doesn't. Can vouch for them being excellent quality, v good bits. Either way, it isn't the angle itself that is so important, more the fact that there are many lozenge bits with a range of different angles so you have a better chance of finding one that suits your horse.

Best of luck CBFan, it's a bloomin' minefield!

I've got a question!
Has anyone any thoughts on the round ball joint rather than a lozenge?
It was the link to the Cotswold Sport site which reminded me.
If you look at their bevels and wilkies section there is one there as an example. I've got this bit, but my boy doesn't really like it and prefers a normal French link. Do you think the ball joint gives too much tongue pressure?

It will give more tongue pressure than a flatter shaped lozenge. I know that it wouldn't suit either of ours, both of them really dislike tongue pressure. One of them hates it to the extent that I have utterly zero brakes or steering in a french link that isn't a lozenge as the joins are a little more prominent. So if your horse doesn't get on with tongue pressure then I would avoid more 'ball' or 'peanut' shaped links.

Thanks... the hardest bit is finding one that actually fits his now big 'ead!! I bought him a 6inch which is half an inch bigger than his other bits but it is only borderline ok... am on the look out for a 6.5 inch now... easier said than done - waiting to hear back on the thickness of mouthpiece on one as this is another issue ;)
