Friction with another livery client

It is one of the most ridiculous suggestions ever- wants to move her horse into a stable that another horse will walk through twice a day, and where her horse will have a mare able to nuzzle him, which she doesn't want? Why would she even consider wanting to do this??

Because she's being a difficult arse and wants to make the OP's life as miserable as possible in the hope she leaves.

Definitely use the 'Health and Safety' angle OP, in these days of blame culture ('where theres blame theres a claim'), that will surely strike a chord for the YM/ owner! Please let us know the outcome too.
I hope it resolves itself; I know how upsetting these things can be. I have already decided that my current horse will be my last if I have to be on a livery yard; too often the bitchiness has spoilt my enjoyment of my horse.

I would also make clear that if her Gelding ever gets injured form your mare whilst you are leading through the stable that you will not be paying the vet bills. That might make her change her mind.

The longer I'm on livery, the more strange I think people get...... (or maybe I get less tolerant as I get older).

I have found the 'I don't think my insurance will cover this, so hopefully yours will' to a YO to have good effect on a rather silly situation with the potential to draw blood if it had gone t*** up.

Honestly, this whole thing is madness... The woman sounds like she is trying to push you out, god knows why people act like this. Friends with the YO or not, you need to man up and speak to YO/YM, tell them this set up will not work and is an accident waiting to happen. I am someone who does not like confrontation and will let minor gripes slide as it makes life easier, but something like this would be brought up with YO/YM straight away.

If you let this woman walk over you (i.e. mover her horse as she plans, god knows why) then it is highly likely she will continue on her crazy path until you leave. I feel quite cross on your behalf OP!

Ah I now understand the layout (thank you Ester!).

I would be doing my absolute raving nana if someone wanted me to walk my horse through their stable to get to mine. Not a chance. Aside from Health and Safety/Fire risk, her next complaint will be that your mare is dragging bedding into his stable etc. The logistics of mucking out ROUND another horse, turning out ROUND another house etc.

Its a no from me. Unleash your inner bitch OP!!

Imagine the outcry if a YO wanted a livery to do this :o theyd leave immediately

one horse loose whilst another is lead past in an area as small as a stable is is plain stupid and highly dangerous, not allowing for when the mare is in season and stops to pee!

what about if the other horse is eating and does`nt like another going past, well i`ve known too many folk injured and indeed killed in close situations like this with horses, you need to man up and and save yourself and your horse quickly, do not let an idiot get you into a dangerous position.

speak and act now before it gets worse.

I'd just leave tbh it all just sounds like a right ball ache. Esp this whole sharing stables business with people you already don't get on with.

so...lets gets things into perspective-you have a new horse who sounds like you keep separate all the time..so she has no interaction with other horses..like to scratch etc,,she-- whoever she is-- has took a dislike to you -you are getting no enjoyment from bonding with your new horse because of this situation--your horse will be unsettled because you are..

I can solve this-MOVE-this situation will NEVER improve-Oh and I would be worried about what she would be doing to my mare when you are not around...CCTV would be put up quick sharp!
Life is TOO short and we pay far too much money for our hobby-please do the right thing for your new horse no matter what they say you say-just move!

Get the other Livery by the hair and slap her in the chops, tell her there's more where that came from if you don't start behaving....

O. P I'm interested in what you did before your mare when you had your gelding- you said he was in the middle stable (I'll call this stable 2) but were asked to move down a stable, to 3, when you got your mare?
Stable 1 occupied by the difficult liverys pony
Stable 3 by your mare.

So now stable 1 +3 are occupied- stable 2 a walkway/storage area

Difficult livery wants to move to stable 2 - totally ridiculous and unsafe.

But previously stable 1 + 2 were occupied? So the walkway/storage was once a stable? And the pony had to walk through your horse? Stable 3 was empty at this point?

Sorry if I've got this wrong but this is how I've read this post.

Either way having a horse in stable 2 is not a good situation and you need to try to do everything to prevent this for the safety of Every one involved.

new livery only arrived in october,
OP said she has been paying for empty stable for a few months.
So I am not sure that her gelding was there at the same time as new livery so maybe only stable 2 of the set up occupied at that point by her gelding?
