From another thread; what's the best/ funniest name you have ever heard?

OMG! Some of these are brilliant!

Im thinking I should probably make Teds show name something like, My Boyfriends Earnings!
hahahaha!! Ted doesnt really have a show name yet, and im not using what is in his passport!

How about Kehshspian of Daldorn Charmaine? Rather a mouthful and it was very funny hearing some of the versions of "Kehshspian" that came out over the tannoy. :D

I used to know a woman who rescued a pony from the sales. He was a lovely little palomino but she had never really had ponies before, only horses. Poor little soul had no name so she just called him pony! Eventually it stuck and he was Pony for the rest of his life!

Toffee is normally called Pony she comes to call with it too :D

my old Arab's pedigree name was Dark Side of the Moon .... and then he was name Floyd :P i loved it.

i knew a gelding called Gladavar / Gladamuir or something - but the girls mum couldnt pronounce it and started calling him Gladys and it stuck!

beautiful Eventer from ireland called Tayto (means 'crisps') but it suited him.

Black gelding called Legacy

Charlies show name was 'The Happy Hooligan'

My dad had a horse called The Sod. Never has a horse had a more appropriate name, he was an ugly big buckskin thing with a giant roman nose and an evil temper. Curiously my dad was quite fond of him.

My favourite funny horse name though was Hoover.

We have called my mare "Moo" as she can be a bit of a cowbag sometimes lol and now she answers to Moo more than her name lol!!!

Infact i don't think I can remember when I actually last called her by her real name..

I knew one called Titiyana, known as tit for short. the owner used to ask the male groom to grab her tit for her and hold it whilst she mounted, it was hilarious and got some funny looks for those who did not know the horse..

My friend's mare's stable name is Marge and her full sister's name is Maureen!
Marge's 'proper' name is Magnetism, when she competes the tannoy is never right, they usually announce Magnesium!

My Boy's racing name is Sentinelese, my farrier recently suggested that senseless was more suitable lol! My old share pony is called Mr Nosey, which actually suits him very well. At my first riding school there were a few peculiar names for their horses and ponies. Ones that I can remember were Nobby, another was Stranger (that was his name)

My first loan pony was called Kia-ora :D and had a foal named Tango.

Same lady also had a cob named Knobby and a shetland named Chipolata. I named the Shetland, he was very naughty and should have been made into sausages :D

I'm not keen on horses with people names, 18 or the 22 horses on the yard where I keep Merlin have peoples names, they are mostly owned by the same lady.

Once had a pony named Mable which we changed to Marble.

I know of two elderly mares named filly :D

As a child I used to ride a black mare named The Widow Maker :)

Went to see a horse called Batman once. Thought it was a fab name, but can you imagine yelling that out everytime you went to the field?

You'd have to go "Batman! Nana nana nana nana nana nana nana nana Batman!" Everytime of course!

And then you'd have to buy a pony and call it Robin just to really annoy the rest of the yard :)

An instructor of mine had a gelding called Har'don - A little crude, but certainly raised a few eyebrows when called over the loud speaker.

We've had Golden Balls, Dave, Nigel, Brian, Bug, Carrot.

Another favourite was Loxie (she was so naughty and always towing us around we were forever saying 'Oh B@llo*ks)

At one time we had Joyce, Enid, Edna & Morris.... All arrived separately already named.

My old welshy was called pinky, then got renamed babe.

Not horsey, but i know someone with two cats, one called gary, and one called tank. I can't look at gary without laughing, I'm even laughing as i write this....

I also know a lady who has a cob foal called Shadrack Dingle. Haha.

My old horse was "Always Hopeful" and his stable name was Basil - which was always repeated back to me when I entered in as fawlty Towers Basssiiiiil style!

At our yard there's a willie and a phanny which just make me snigger everytime without fail! Childish I know.

The best of all though is my friend used to showjump for this man who has a bit of a dealer and always had new random horses and would just make up names for them so she never knew what she was riding until it was announced. She got used to being announced over the tannoy as riding the black, the chestnut, the grey etc. until one day she was announced as riding "xxx's Monumental Errection"!!

I used to have a horse called Dave, its obviously quite popular.

There used to be a dog that competed a few years ago called Norfolk Enchance:o which I think is a brill name.

Can't remember if I've posted this before, but the name in Jasper's passport is "Jasper W", very boring! When I first got him I was trying to decide on a show name, and my favourite was "Jasper's Carrot" right up until someone pointed out that the announcer would say "here comes *** **** riding Jasper's Carrot" :o :D

Love this thread!
My favs are a mare called T Bag and a rather ugly cremello mare called Ambrosia, changed by most on yard to Custard, as there were about 5 ladies on the yard at thhe time called Sue, we added the horses name to Sue to distinguish Sue from Sue.... For some reason Custard Sue was not amused!
Nitro Mouse is small, brown, shy and very very quick!

Not horsey Names but I have a friend named Hollie Hedges. Another friends brother is called Paul Muttit and we used to have a guy call work named Richard or Dick for short. His surname was Cheese!
