Slightly pointless post but i am interested from a psychology point of view.

It occured to me today that when i do up rug surcingles i ALWAYS do up the front to rear one first and the rear to front one last.

I am right handed - dont know if that makes any difference!

So it made me wonder - which was do you do your surcingles up?

I do rugs up starting from front, then working along to back - finally reaching the leg surcingles which I do up from left then right

I'm also right handed ;)

Edited: Forgot to say that the very last thing I do is the neck cover

i do front to rear first too but because i grab the both at same time and that one is alway under the other so it holds it up so i dont have to go under the horse again to grab the second.

Does that make sense?!

interesting!

i do the breast straps/clips first, pull the rug back, do the leg straps and then the surcingles, generally the front to rear then rear to front!

I always do
the breast straps,
then the Surcingles, always rear to front, then front to rear,
then leg straps , near one first.
then neck cover.

I'm lefty btw

I do the chest straps first, with the rest of the rug rumpled on the back, then straighten it out and do the fillet string, then back to front and front to back. Neck cover last.

Many I've seen put the rug on from the back and pull it forward, then do everything up from the back to the check straps last. It looks so awkward.
