OMG don't think that today could have been anymore full of ups & downs!

Arrived up to yard to greet my new boy who was already settled in his stable as if he had been there forever to be told my Mare wasn't put out this morning as was very stiff behind...... we checked on her & her 2 hinds the off in particular were like balloons!! NEVER since I've had her has she ever had any problems with lameness ...
Was in shock:( So after some advice cold hosed them & then turned her out in a small paddock for a bit to see if swelling would come down.. Off hind still like a balloon and she was sore & really out of sorts - when I was cold hosing she kept nudging me as if she was telling me she was sore and reluctant to walk on as she was very sore - there a couple of thoughts on what it may be because of but not going to speculate until vet sees her tomorrow and I am a natural panicer so trying to keep calm.. She has been turned out in small paddock tonight as was advised not good for her to be standing still at all:( - have shed many a tear, she means the world to me & this is the first time for this to happen to me.

So the New boy as I mentioned arrived today on top of all this happening so didn't get to do much with him - however he really is such a dude - as calm as anything, taking in the view and all the action from his stable - was showing him off to a friend & low & behold he caught sight of the haylage bale 10ft from his stable so he legged it - was so funny .... Hes just like my mare - thinks with his stomach.. He was a dream to be around & very affectionate when I went in to spend some time with him, kept nuzzling into me though I do need to teach him that he doesn't have to try to eat the outer plastic on the bag of carrots I will take them out for him lol... Looking forward to giving him a spin tomorrow...

Unfortunatly I have no pics from today due to drama with my mare but here is when I fell in love with him after trying him:)

In the meantime can I have some HHO vibes for my mare please - Just want her to be ok.

oh i hope your mare gets better..... same thing happened to me
bough new horse in morning....got call from yard in afternoon 'we think your horse has injured its leg'....only an abscess but it was horrible!

New boy is lovely!
Just thought re your mare, a friends horse had similar happen with his back legs last year, it turned out to be sunburn at the backs of his feet! So dont panic just yet, it could be something as simple as that! Hope she is better in the morning x

Oh no your poor mare :( Hopefully it'll have gone down a good bit overnight and be something small. (((((((vibes)))))))))

The new boy has such a kind and gently eye and is a lovely type. Best of luck with him and the mare :smile3:

~Thanks - really really hoping it comes down!

New boy sounds and looks lovely. I hope you have lots of fun together

Lots of vibes for your girl. My previous horse had similar 3 out 4 legs were very swollen and hot. He was very sorry for himself. Vet said was some kind of virus or possibly a reaction to something. He had ab's and aloe Vera juice
As he was sore vet wanted him on box rest with 3 or 4 inhand walks a day
Took about 10 days but he was fine.

Vet was out this morning & is treating her for Odema & Lymphangitis. He gave her couple of jabs Doxcyline - and she is to go nowhere near a stable! She has to be kept moving as much as possible with regular cold hosing:( Have to ring vet on Friday morning & see where we go from there:(

hope your mare is ok.Your new horse is a similar to my new boy, another lovely dun and only 4 but such a cool dude i cant believe it and like you had to grab him before someone else did!

A horse I had a few years ago used to suffer from lymphangitis. It's so difficult to keep them moving when it obviously hurts so much. She was kept with another during the day that gently kept her moving - seperated at night. It's so hard to watch and I am sending vibes to her and hugs for you!
New lad is very handsome!

Riding in morning, i am utterly emotionally drained. She had to be kept moving and thankfully the meds have kicked in, leg has come down considerably and she is bearing full weight on it now. Had i left it a further 24 hrs would have been in trouble. Will post up a full report with pics of the new boy tomorro:)
