Full/hunter clip - saddle patch or not?

Do you leave one or don't you? I usually do but haven't so far this year

Nope! Take it all off. CAn never get it sraight anyway. Occasionally leave a rugby ball shape.

With past horses (going back 10 years!) always use to leave a oval shaped bit at the top.

Usually leave a half pad shape bit on his back but thats it!

During the summer tho I take the whole shooting match off!

First clip I normally take the whole lot off (including legs), then the next I leave the legs on

Deffinatly leave a full saddle patch... saddle rubs cause problems, days that you can't ride, a sweaty saddle patch is easily more preferable than a sore horse.

Im old fashioned I'm afraid and always leave an oval shaped patch of hair where the saddle goes!

Saddle patches are from the age where nunmahs were not used.
Unless you are planning to ride without a numah take it off - after all who likes a washing machine full of hair????

Whip it off!!!! There are good theorys to leaving it on and taking it off!!

I always leave it on as I think it could be uncomfy for the horse to have his stubbly bit rubbing under his saddlecloth.

Mine have "rugby ball" shaped ones, but then who cares?! At shows, its always under a saddle anyway so it doesnt matter what it looks like!

I ahve 5 hunt horses here and for first winter clip the lot comes off, saddle patch and legs! Otherwise come the end of the season you have very hairy legs and back!
