Full livery... is this a fair request?

I have my new horse on 5 day full livery and am new to the whole livery thing as previously always had horses at home.

Anyway I was wondering what the etiquette around stable “modifications” is? Would it be unreasonable to ask if I can install a haybar for example or rubber mats? I think some of the other stables have mats so don’t think they’re a problem as not so “permanent”. However the haybar has to be drilled to the wall... so is that like a huge no no to ask or do you think most yards would be accommodating (I could refill the holes if I leave or something ?)?

I realise the best way to find out is to just ask but just wanted to hear your thoughts first. I'm currently still figuring out the balance between what’s reasonable and what’s not and don’t want to be that “fussy” person lol.

Obviously I would front the cost of the item/installation.
 
Depends on the yard; I’ve been on full livery yards where you couldn’t put anything at all up and others you could pretty much do what you like in terms of fixtures.
 
I can’t imagine rubber mats will be an issue. A couple of people but up hay bars and just removed them when they left. I am guessing they asked first though.
 
Totally depends on your yard. My current one, you can construct whatever you like (some liveries have gone to town). Lucky me, the previous occupant of my stable had installed enough rug rails for the entire Lord of the Rings equine cast, so I didn't have to build a thing.

My previous yard, no f*(cking way could you add anything to a stable beyond rubber mats.

I don’t secure mine. But I do make sure it is hard again a corner wall, with the lid sliding side against the wall. I think if you needed to weigh it down a bit you could pop a few paving stones in the bottom. But it is already fairly heavy.

Also I slightly nest it in place with bedding.
 
You can ask. They can say no if they wish. No harm in asking but to be honest if I were a yard owner I wouldn't be keen on the hay bar or any permanent attachments etc. You are paying for a livery service including use of a stable but I don't think you are entitled to treat the stable as your own. It isn't, nor do you rent that specific stable usually. What if the yard needs to move horses around for some reason? This happens sometimes on some yards, depending on circumstances.
 
It sounds like a reasonable request to me. Ive been on a few yards in the UK where they liked to put up things themselves, you just supplied the item, showed them where you wanted them and they were put up (I suspect it was to make sure people didnt attempt themselves and make a mess of the stables).

I consider my horses stable to be my my own space as long as I do nothing that can’t be reversed (and have permission from yard).

I’ve put mats down, I’ve mirrors on the wall, specific rings on the wall. insulating pipe foam to protect his head from the top of the door frame and the outside of the over hand. And the hay saver box. And the hanging rubber squeaky chicken.

It came with 3 rug rails, huge high alcove shelf, a large corner cupboard (from the last person whose horse was in it).

We are part livery, and in the past livery has wanted to use hay bar and other screw in things, as long as they ask we are unlike;;y to complain
