Hi. I have a welsh pony and am looking for a new full neck rug, either medium or heavyweight. She currently has a wug plus with inbuilt neck but is a bit tight on the chest as the chest fasteners are not adjustable. However I need one that does not just have velcro as fastener for the neck cover as she seems to pop it open, so either velcro and something else or just buckles etc. Any ideas anyone - they all seem to hav gone to just velcro. Am looking for lower end of range as money a bit tight at the moment. Thanks

my friend has a Mark Todd which has buckles on the neck if that helps - they can be adjusted but I think they are a bit fiddly tbh. The H/W is quite pricey but I think the M/W was cheaper and seems pretty good quality.

I have just bought masta which has a zip and velcro neck. Have just posted a pic in NL but it does not show the neck. Cost me around 80 quid.

i have a welsh and love weatherbeeta rugs for the buckles at the chest for width! my combo has elasticated straps on the neck that goes through a loop and velcros with a flap on top, this stops any mud sticking to the velcro but still gives at the neck with the elastic, ive been looking for a new h/w combo and have seen w/beeta orican on equestrian clearance warehouse for 60 quid which i thought was quite a bargain!

If her Wug plus is still good apart from the front fitting then you can actually extend it a little by adding another couple of clips yourslef (I always keep the ones off broken leadropes for jobs like this). Means there's a slightly bigger gap at the from but thats really not much of a problem.
If not then Mark Todd Rugs have decent buckle fittings on in addition to the velcro.

The mark todd rugs are gd, i also find the fal pro rugs are good even though these are only velcro non of my horses have undone them so far as they double and nothing like the wug!! Amigo rugs are also really good and a lot cheaper.

One of our horses has a Rhinegold & it's been really good. It fastens with velcro & buckles & attaches to the rug with a metal clip at the withers area & velcro through a metal loop either side. We've had no problems with it at all & it's been very warm & waterproof considering it's quite a cheap rug.
