Hey everybody, just a light hearted post.

Sunny was really making me chuckle today, he's been sulking a bit when he's shut in his stable and I'm around doing things.

I opened the door too put a nice fresh bucket of water in and as I came out, he pushed the door open..

I then left it open whilst I continued sweeping etc. and he immediately settled, didn't leave his stable once. And just kept momentarily looking up to see what I was doing next. :) Ahh I love him.

He also according to mother goes into a panic when I leave and just stares at where I went til I come back. Bless him, proper Mummy's boy! :D:rolleyes:

What things do you horses do that amuse you? Pictures too! :)

My boy gets very upset if I don't go and see him the minute I get on the yard. If he see's me across the yard he shakes his head up and down until I go over, I have it on good authority that he never does it when I am not there as I was worried he might weave lol.

He also like to self groom his head, if I put the brush out he brushes his head on it but NEVER rubs on me.
:D

Bella has taken to licking my face when I used to bandage her legs when she was injured...very cute!

She also has to have whatever I might be eating or drinking....my morning toast with jam and peanut butter and has decided she loves tea! Strange girl but I love her for it :D

Picks his food bucket up and holds it in his mouth looking like oliver!!

Oh and this morning my friend opened his stable door and then walked off to get his headcollar, when she turned round he'd pulled the stable door shut again!! Obviously wanted a duvet day xxx

My last horse used to undo the velcro on the farriers chaps which proceeded to fall with a loud clank (as he keep some of the tools in the pockets) on the ground. He would then act totally surprised as if it was a ghost that done it - silly horse!

This one actually really made me giggle! :p

Aw, I love hearing about all the little things the do! :)

awwhh they all have their funny little ways! My little man is very silly with his buckets as well, he likes to shake them about when he's hungry :) There's one at work who loves being groomed & when you scratch his kneck along the crest (he's hogged) he loves it & grooms you back with his lips on your back :) xx

My rather fit and ready to run Pointer (who has been unable to run yet due to lack of rain.......) likes to greet me in the mornings with yellowed teeth and a front leg whizzing past my ear - but then he remembers that I usually have polos in my pocket - so starts blowing affectionately in my ear........bless him!

my horse loves to sweep his own stable with my broom he also is a bit of a freak and smells every ones hair he especially likes it if you have used apple shampoo :) but quite likes treseme! :D

My girl likes to pretend to fall asleep when I'm tacking her up, its as if she is saying I'm too tired! She also nearly falls over when asleep, it can be quite alarming at first untill you realise she is sleeping lol

Our mare does this, it's like she's saying "No I couldn't possibly, can't you see how tired I am!? I can hardly move. Now dont be silly and take this tack off me and let me go hoon around in the field instead" :p

when I rug up my PRE and do his front fastnings he would put his head on my shoulder to make me cosy as well :) When I come to the stables he'll stiff my hands first to see if there's anything nice there, and then he'd sniff my face - I love that, it's almost he's trying to read my thoughts from my face :) I love him so much, he's an absolute sweetie!

Our two horses have four haynets between them every night. Two large green trawler nets, and 2 smaller & older black nets. One of the black nets has a largish hole in it (they are all small mesh). Hung up the green nets first tonight and my horse ignored them. Hung up the first black net, and as I was trying to tie it, my horse was tuning the net over & over with his nose looking for the hole. Went to tie the second one & he followed & did the same thing - found the hole & settled there. Very bright! :D He does make me chuckle! :D

Len likes to veerrry gently bite the lapel on my jacket and just hold it there between his teeth. He never EVER gets anyone's skin, it's like he just likes to hold on to you, like a child holding somebody's hand :D

Tink likes to scoop her bucket up on the end of her nose and fling it against the stable block as hard as she can. She's only 31" so it's quite impressive how much noise she can make!

Molly wiggles her ears when she has a drink :D

J&C

Gypsy will get your coat zip, actually open it and stuck his nod in rooting around for food! He will also bite the heel of your boot and pull it off for you ;D
He also used to be able to open his stable door and escape, now he just climbs o er the top of it :o

Throws all her hay out of her haybar on to the floor into her water bucket...
Wiggles her ears back & forth when she drinks....
Knows my whistle & walks to greet me, everyone else has tried, but its only me she recongises.
Likes to use her lips to tickle me on my face

Sparky presents her bum to anyone who walks into her paddock. She doesn't kick, she just wants her bum scratched. If you don't, she'll reverse into you and push you into the fence :o
She also puts on a massively dramatic face any time you feed her, and stands halfway down the paddock, snorting and spooking until you put the bucket down and leave.
She also always has her tongue out, as she has no front teeth

Tally loves to 'help' with grooming, by picking up brushes and throwing them at you if you're not grooming fast enough.
He puts his legs through fences etc if he's tied up too long, so someone will rescue him.
He throws his water bucket at people at shows to get attention.
He unties haynets and wraps them around his leg to get attention.
He helps with mucking out by turning the wheelbarrow over, then running off with the spade.
He puts one foot on the metal mud guards of the float at shows and waves it up and down to get attention.
He can't be left alone at shows, due to the point above, or if this doesn't work, he unties himself and goes walkabout.
He greets other horses by licking their nostrils, then squealing at them (his only friend in the world was a rather friendly mare!).
He will do anything for a lick of wasabi.
When he finishes his feet, he picks up the bucket and throws it over a fence.
He bucks whenever someone new rides him, just to see what happens. If he's reprimanded in the appropriate manner, he behaves impeccably.
He loves to give kisses, where he lifts his nose up and licks your face.
He likes to lead himself, so walks along with the lead line in his mouth.

I have a disturbing amount more from Tally!

Sounds such a character! You can't leave gypsy on his own at a show either, he will most probably cone into the show ground with the trailer and car dragging behind him :p
What breed is he? :D

:D

Sleeping on two legs (opposite two are just rested on the floor)
Ear wiggling when drinking
Picking out carrots out of feed trug so she can save them until last
She tries to put her bridle on for you
Scratches your back if she wants food

If we re in the school and we re finished she ll walk up to mum lay her head flat against her body but barely touching and fall asleep

Pretends she cant jump 3ft cos its too much effort but 1m 10 is worth jumping and 1m30 gates out of deep mud are nothing!

I do love my ginos funny ways x)

Phoenix also loves to present his bum, but only if he knows you, and if you do the scratching well ;-) He lifts his tail, and his bottom lip wobbles if you are good at it :-D

Another thing he does well it seems is chucking stuff. Namely chucking my jacket into the next door stable's water bucket. Just a shame my iphone was in the pocket at the time last week.....

I have windows in the stables aka holes in the wall where windows should have been, and if i'm late down to feed spirit throws his feed bucket out the window, as a reminder!! O also had a mare at one point that always stood on one foot in front, other one tucked into her chest while eating. every single time, doing a stork/flamingo on it!! very funny!!

Supposedly an Anglo-Arab, but it wouldn't half surprise me if a randy little pony jumped a fence somewhere in his lineage. His only redeeming feature is he's downright adorable so gets away with everything!

He once started a stampede during a big prizegiving, as he wasn't getting the attention he thought he deserved, so he started bucking. This set every horse and pony around off, so he promptly stopped and watched the carnage.

He also has a tendency to rear before the start of show-jumping courses, until the bell rings, then his ears fly forward and he's totally focussed. All the local shows politely accommodate for this behaviour by ringing the bell as soon as I'm in the ring :o

He also loves to pose with his head into the wind and his ears forward, so his mane blows back. He'll stand on top of the hill in his paddock and pose in the evenings.

He also pricks his ears if you say "Put your nice face on" after he tried to squash me a few times to get his feed with his ears back. He now sulks with his ears back until he hears that, then grudgingly steps back and puts his ears forward.

He also unties people's shoelaces if he feels he's being ignored

Forgot another of his little special moments. He loves playing what I call the "Weeping Angels" game. I wander away, then suddenly spin around, and he follows me and freezes as soon as I do. He tries to sneak up on me, and I try to catch him moving.

Mine gets 2 of a certain brand of treat after he's had his chaff with supplements of an evening - they are put in his feed bucket so he doesn't think they are treats but afterwards and only with this brand he HAS to lick my hand. It started after I'd had him a few months and he was on box rest for a couple of days having got nail bind and I got him the treats as he was feeling so sorry for himself the 2 days he was in and sore. It's not that I've had them in my hand for ages so my hand smells of them but if I walk away and not let him lick my hand it's like I've broken some order/routine he has. I've noticed a horse in the next door stable has his feed and then licks a door hinge every time too so I wonder what it is with the licking?!

When I used to tack up my old share Horse in his stable, as soon as he saw me approaching with his tack he would walk to the back of the stable and bury his head in the straw as if to say "you can't tack me up, if you can't see me"

My current share Horse, she will smile before you put on her bridle, Very annoying if you have to tack up quick because she will get grumpy if you dont let her smile first! When we sectioned off a new field for them we hadnt installed a water trough so we walked down everyday with water buckets instead which she would then stick her head in and splash the water out of it, so we would have to go and get another, I wouldnt mind so much but she doesnt do it with water troughs as it refills itself!

Spooks at her own farts  then looks round to see what the noise was

I was singing once along to my ipod and she shoved me out her stable! obviously trying to tell me something hehe.

Every night i go down to the field, Boo will check the electric fencing by using his whiskers, he almost touches it with his nose, and then shakes his head up & down and snorts when he realises its on  but the strip underneath isn't connected & he twangs it with his lips

Buffy will quiver her top lip when shes been told off or is getting impatient!
She likes you to clean her nipples..
She dunks her hayledge into her water no matter how moist or dry it is!
When you put her bridle on and you stand infront of her to even out the noseband she blonks her mouth on your shoulder and rests there. Never gets her teeth out but just puts her full weight on you!
