I am having a real problem with fleas at the moment, my dogs spend a large amount of time at the stables where there is quite a population of feral cats. We are trying to control the cats (spaying and neutering, worming and flea control) but some of them are very wild and we can't get them all.

My dogs are picking up fleas, they are frontlined and I comb them out every night with a flea detector which does a pretty good job of 'frying' them (about 5 or 6 each dog), but I always seem to miss one or two. I change their bedding regularly in the bed they have at the farm and don't know what else to do. I have flea traps at home but don't seem to have any in the environment, just on the dogs!

Anyone any ideas what else I could do? I spend a lot of time at the stables and don't want to leave the dogs at home, but am thinking that is all that I can do.

Any help gratefully received!

phone the cat protection league and ask to borrow a cat trap for the ferals. CP will also help with neutering costs. the trap is very humane and works really well. if you do your dogs with spot on or frontline each months the fleas will die anyhow.
