I think we may be having our first visit to the vet, other for vaccinations, in the morning.
Harvey had "pudding stools" Monday night which then turned quite runny and full of bird seed. He was quiet at the time, but as soon as the bird seed came out he returned to normal. We think a crow possibly dropped some of of a fat ball from my in-laws bird table in our yard, only explanation for where he could have gotten bird seed from.
He was normal again toileting by Tuesday morning, no increased frequency and returned to pooping "logs".
This morning he was normal. He then did a slightly softer poop in mid afternoon and a darker brown, very loose poop an hour or so ago. He is absolutely 100% in himself. Drinking alot (thankfully) and has a hearty appetite. No sickeness, gums nice and pink and no discomfort if you "squish" his belly gently...I think the term is palpate.
His skin is the normal loose puppy skin, no signs of dehydration, but as I say he is eating and drinking absolutely 100% normally.
He's fed nothing but James Wellbeloved Puppy food, but I can't guarantee no children (schools shut) haven't dropped bits of food on the floor during the day...biscuits etc. They say they haven't, but I'd be naive to completely rule out the possibility he's been hoovering crumbs up.
If he continues to have loose poops, as in watery loose, in the morning I will call the vet and take him in for a check up as I don't want him to become dehydrated.
Any ideas? Could messing in the snow make him offside? I don't recall Jasper having icky tummies as a pup....iron constitution that one...but is it common for them to occasionally suffer the odd day of diarrhoea?
He is still crying to go out, even though it's loose, so isn't losing the ability (yet) to hold himself until outside. Good boy, that impresses me!
