Don't know if you remember but I was kind of trailling an Irish TB who's been on my yard for 10 months. I did a how much on him I think.
anyway, after not hacking (or even being ridden) for nearly a year, I took him, in my wisdom, to Epsom Downs. For those of you who know Epsom Downs, I'm sure you'd agree that on a sunny Sunday afternoon, it's probably the biggest head f@@K in the world for a horse!
People, horses, dogs, hundreds of motorised planes, kites etc etc...Anyway, we had a bit of an incident where he decided that the horse box was safer and he tried to take me back. I was a bit of a woss and decided he wasn't for me.
I beat myself up about it all week as I'd been riding him and hacking out and had no problems - even going past guys chain sawing trees on a bridle path (and chipping them)
So decided to school him tonight and he was wicked....going to hack him around the block, on his own tomorrow and then make a decision.
So please, good vibes.....I'll make sure I'm confident and keep the old legs on but I really want this to work!
