Just wondered if there where any german shepherd owners lovers on here. I am the proud owner of 2 and also volunteer and foster for a german shepherd rescue would be great to hear from others.
Ah cas, didn't realise Joey was a gsd. I've got 2, we lost one Xmas 2011 leaving my giant one behind (there is a pic on my page if you want to see) and a few weeks later the one we lost sent us a puppy. It was an accident that we saw the advert at all. When we got there he was the only one left. I wanted a black one originally and he's black and tan, but we liked him and he was from very healthy parents. He's turned out to be an amazing, loving little dog. I'm sure our old lad chose him for us! Rather brilliantly he has taught our big dog to play with toys, which just didn't happen before!
Yeah, I've had a couple, don't like to make a big deal of it though![]()

Another big fan here. I have two.
cas1979 your post has brought tears to my eyes. RIP Joey.
Im just in the process of arranging an MRI scan to see if my boy has CDRM. He is the same build as your Joey. Its breaking my heart seeing his legs starting to go.
Oh my word there are some fab dogs on there.
Chudley is the image of my fella. Loving the floofy ones!
OMG D those pictures of your baby boy made me think of mine, he used to love the woods and the beach....
I didn't need MRI, my vet did xrays and with that he disregarded all other conditions that share the same symptoms, like dysplasia, arthritis, etc.
The condition progressed so quickly that n 2 months he had next to no claws on his back paws.
How old is yours??
Joey was very young, only 8 years and 22 days

Seeing his paws covered in cuts and bruises was breaking my heart bit by bit and everytime he fell on the floor and tried to get up with struggle brought tears to my eyes.
Some of the last walks my hubby went with us, he saw my crying with Joey's falls and told me I needed to start thinking about the inevitable cos both Joey and I were suffering.... This was 1 of the things that made me think it was time and Joey's face 3 days before going to doggy heaven when he tried to get up with so much struggle that I had to help him.
This has been a rollercoaster of emotions, 1 min Im ok and have accepted the facts the next I think he is going to walk thro garden's door asking for his treats he loved and I break down...
Beautiful pic of Joey. My eyes fill up reading your posts.
Dexter turned 9 beginning of April. We call him the puppy man because he has not grown up in his head at all!
This makes it harder as he is still his old self but his back legs dont keep up. We are still doing agilty but only tiny jumps now although he will tell you he can do the big ones he used to.
His claws are wearing down on his back paws and Im looking into getting a pair of dog boots for him.
Its funny because some days I think he looks ok and on others he is noticably not as good. My friend has lent me a harness with a handle on it to help lift him if needed. He needs help getting into the car. He is a lump though as he is a big boy of almost 45kgs.
Ah well, seeing as everyone else is doing it!!!!
