Gertie needs a posh name, all witty/clever contributions gratefully received

No it was Basil Brush according to google...I didnt know that, you learn something new every day!

of course then if you ever bred from her in the future and had a colt it would have to be basil brush!

Graf Goshenite Gertrude

It's supposedly the mother of gemstones and it's cleavage is 'poor and in one direction' (who knew gemstones had cleavage?) which whilst you probably don't want a reminder of this year, her name will always remind you that you've battled tougher and harder things when she decides to give you a bad dressage test or something. It's very pretty too, just like Gertie :D (and if it's clear, it's in purest form so links to the Grace bit).

Sorry, I missed this earlier. :o I never knew gemstones had cleavage, lucky things.;) I'd like it if she did turn out to be a little gem. Will add Graf Goshenite to the shortlist.:D

I'm just a bit worried that, much as like Giraffe McPokeynose:D, it may not be great when she fails as an eventer and I try and sell her as a dressage horse.;)

Victoria sponge or chocolate crispie cake?:D

Well that's obviously not going to be an issue as she'll be a superstar! And when she's wanting a quieter life from 4* eventing with you in the future, you can send her up to me to have fun at the giddy heights of 1* as a belated naming prize?!

:D (watches Baydale take "Griff Graff" off the shortlist quick smart...!)

Ooooh... it's a tough call as everyone loves Victoria sponge... but the chocoholic in me says crispie cake please! :D

You could always add "Griff Graff" to other things, like "Griff Graff Get Going" (I know you like your alliteration and it would hopefully stop you pootling round picking up time faults with her like poor Cal has suffered...! ;) ) or "Griff Graff Graphic" (nice tongue twister for commentators?! :p ), "Griff Graff Gertie" etc.

Why not choose a nice prefix and then you will not have this dilema (well so much) for the next one? With Grace producing lots of nice progeny and the future of the dynasty assured with her producing fillys you need something that even if you do sell will stay with her and you will know it was you.

Kermit! :D

I'm hopeless at thinking up names but how about:

Graceful Gertie
Grafen Grace
Graceful Grafter
Gracious Grafter

...Told you i was hopeless, thank god someone else has always had the pleasure of naming mine!! LOL!

Grafresco or may be a bit more female Grafresca - with a bit of Italian for green or fresh (I think)
Gertie Gitana - was a music hall star in the 1920s think Gitana means little gypsy which is a bit cute but its also rhyming slang for banana.......

Terrible at this - ours all have bizarre Dutch and Belgian names .......... beginning with W's and Z's

Last horse I named was called Basil

Ooh, can you imagine them trying to get those tongue twisters out. I've sent you the last of the choc crispie for being so creative.:D

What about Green-something. Greengrass Gertie. Greenlees Gertie. That sort of thing?

I think ISZ's idea of having "Kermit" as my prefix may be the kiss of death, and I'll be known for being a muppet for all the wrong reasons.:o

I'm really liking Graffinity, K, that's top of my list at the moment.:)

You sound like you'd be good to have in a Pub Quiz team.:p How about Graf Gitana aka Gertie Banana?;)
