Planning ahead a bit. Just wondered which fly rugs you have used and recommend or not!
I had one for old cob, can't remember the make it was quite soft and ripped very easily. Got Rambo Fly Protector for big cob, which is much harder material and doesn't rip but neck appears to strangle him a bit! So any suggestions welcomed before I purchase one for little Cobalicious

I have the Rambo Protector and I am very pleased with it on my horse but my friend has an Amigo Bug Rug and a Sweetitch Hoody and both of those are a lot softer than the protector.

I dont like the Masta ones ( or Tesco ) as they are very stiff material and I hate the long buckle straps.

My horse doesn't have sweetitch but it is the best thing I have ever bought !

I quite like the Derby House Tego one, it goes over their ears!

Nice soft material but not soft enough to rip easily

Thanks for your thoughts.
My friend's horse has a sweetitch hoody and he gets really hot in it so kinda ruled this out as little cob is quite a warm boy anyway. I want something that will last, fit (he is quite wide) and not rub.
Will take a look at the Derby house one - not seen this before.

My lad has an Amigo bug rug which has been fantastic - really light, soft material but hasn't ripped at all. I bought a masta fly rug for sisters pony though and that was awful - really funny fit and the material was nowhere near as nice. (Am glad I got it cheap as it's hardly been used

Mine gets really bad sweetitch and has a rambo sweetitch hoody x2 and a fal silver interactive. Both very good. Make sure you get one that fastens on to the ears/headcollar or they tend to slip down the neck!

be careful with the PE fly rugs although they have changed them last year but if you buy a secondhand one that's older it will have a plasticky rubberised lining 2 horses on my yard had it and they sweat to the point of foaming in them.
they have changed the design so the new ones have a breathable lining and they are fine.

the rug Ive found to be great is a Pagony a much cheaper boett style rug and it worked for me last year. my horse gets hot quite easy and he only sweat once or twice and it was blooming hot weather at the time. its even showerproof so if it rains they are dry underneath and don't get chilly in the evening wearing a wet rug.

I recommend the Premier Equine one too

My TB wore his most of the summer, after the Rambo Protector wore out, after just one season

I initally bought him another RP but had to return it as I found the material faulty and the exchanged one was also
