I'm not very teachable and totally came to terms with it ages ago. Instructors usually nark me off really quickly. Have you considered defecting to endurance? There's still loads to learn and levels to progress through but it is a totally different type of learning and training than conventional disciplines.

Hah. I have a couple friends who do endurance and are trying to recruit me.

I don’t like early starts (anything before 11am…time doesn’t exist) and I like beer stops on my long hacks, but we are having a good time building up our horse’s distance for our own edification.IMG_2663.jpeg

Insightful post IHW. Back when I was doing a lot of teaching I've often thought (may have even said) that what many pupils needed was a therapist, not a riding lesson.

I've been to a few clinics with an instructor who is also a "mindset" coach- and her approach is really great for people like me, who definitely do need a therapist alongside the instruction sometimes! But equally she has really helped me break down my goals into small, manageable chunks and I'm now in a place where I feel like I'm making actual progress towards them!
