getting motivated to ride after work

Have you got hacking near you? I've always found that motivates me a bit more as I can just get on and tootle down the lane and not have to galvanise him in the school especially now the evenings are lighter. He is however 20 and we don't compete so it doesn't matter as much if we just stroll down the lanes. I'll also go to the fields more now it's lighter.
I do have a lesson so that is used for schooling.
I do know exactly how you feel op.
How about riding first then mucking out then you only have left the jobs you "have" to. You could also lunge?
I've also found having someone to ride with helps a lot of my motivation went when the gang I used to ride with went elsewhere so it's almost always just me. Fortunately I've got back in contact with a couple of people who keep their horses on the same lane so am planning some hacks with them.

I do have some hacking, my horse can be a git sometimes so its not always relaxing lol!

Brilliant, keep on keeping on and soon you won't even think about needing motivation (most of the time lol)

don't they say it takes 4 weeks to make a new habit? So not long to go... :p

I rode before work today. That's unheard of! I don't normally do mornings as it's easier for M's owner to do them as she's ferrying the kids round after work but A & T had the farrier so I got there a bit early for that and rode M while I waited for him to arrive. Got drenched and must have looked a right sight turning up at work in filthy, wet riding gear but proper shoes :o. Had a quick shower and was at my desk only 10mins later than usual. Worked quite well!

I love riding before work, I know it doesn't work for everyone but 7am is a guaranteed free slot in the school at my yard and I start work feeling good that I've (a) done something active and (b) got one horse done and dusted!

I don't like getting up, but once I'm up it's fine and I do like the peace at the yard at that time of day. It's more that the mornings are more convenient for my friend whereas I've got more flexibility to do the evenings. I go to the gym 3 mornings a week instead. It does give you a bit of a smug feeling for the day.
