Fia needs a new girth as she is a more petite lady than the rest of my mob.

Which is going to be more comfy for her, a neoprene/PVC/rubberised jobby, or one lined with sheepskin?

She has a chaser clip, so effectively she is clipped where the girth sits, if that makes a difference to your answer.

I really can't decide, and want her to be as comfy as possible

i put sheepskin cover over normal girth in winter when horse clipped, but take off in summer as i find horse gets too sweaty

Sheepskin is definitely winning in the poll!

I just thought the neoprene would be more likely to 'slide' against her skin once she sweats? Can definitely see the benefits of sheepskin/lambswool though as all my numnahs/saddlecloths are lined.

CM - I'm after a 46, poss 44. It needs to be elasticated both ends though

CSJ - I think I will get a Prof Choice girth anyway, but seeing as they do both style I couldn't decide!
BTW - do you reckon your CS 'Oxblood' coloured leather would match the Mark Todd 'Oakbark' colour?

CM - I'm after a Brown/Havana/Oxblood coloured one

Thanks for the offer though!

Love the Pro Choice ones - have a beautiful sheepskin one for T and am about to invest in a second one (haven't decided on lining yet) as sadly it won't fit her new saddle (monflap) but the nice thing about the removable linings is I'll be able to use the sheepskin from the long girth on the new one aswell.

My only word of advice is to go up a size (T was a 46 in her previous girth but had to go up to a 50 in this as the sheepskin is so lovely and thick!) If you want to try mine for size before spending ££s let me know...

ETA - I think Surrey Equestrian are the cheapest (unless someone can tell me otherwise).

Good choice - they are great girths either way and you can pull the inner off to wash it

Er regarding colours, no oxblood doesn't match oakbark, it is BRIGHT red!!! Tan might, but cannot remember how orangey the tinge is in MT.

I really dont like leather girths (sorry

). I know loads of people swear by them, but the only time I have ever had a horse with girth galls was using a leather girth. I switched to an old cheap fabricy one on the advise of a friend and never had a problem since.

Thanks everyone for you advice/suggestions.

I think I will toddle off to the tack shop at the weekend and have a proper feel of the neoprene and sheepskin Prof Choice girths, and that way, if I get the size wrong (Thanks for the heads up 'RooBear') I can take it back and swap it.
