Glanusk - all systems go :-)

Latest update (friend just leaving - being towed out - after BYEH classes) started raining late morning; they've had some heavy rain but now just back to drizzle. Lorry park and some other bits pretty grim, but ground in the ring was fine and course supposed to be bearing up well too. They still seem optimistic, but I think it really depends which way things go over next 12 hours - we seem to be right on the bottom edge of the weather, and provided it doesn't drift south we may get away with it...

The weather is absolutely horrendous. Can't honestly see how they are safely going to be able to run the national classes on Sunday now, possibly also tomorrow. Awaiting the riders meeting this evening.

Any thoughts on Sunday or hasnt that been discussed?
Don't know what to do now- its a long old journey for us and don't want to drag her there to compete in a bog :( and would be gutted to spend all tomorrow getting ready for it, for it to be cancelled!
Fingers crossed for some miracle sunshine!

BE have just posted the following on FB

Due to heavy rain today all national classes at Glanusk on Saturday 7th July have been abandoned, a decision regarding the national classes on Sunday 8th July will be made tomorrow afternoon.

:(

Really really sad for everyone involved - weather this afternoon has been shocking :( Bit of a c*ck up re the riders' meeting, think it is a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing ;) Particularly sad for all the people who drove down today - as the Novice classes were starting at 8am that's quite a few - S_J you made the right call!

Re the BE90, that is scheduled to run Sunday so no decision has been made yet, you'll need to keep an eye on BE website and FB for updates. They are still hoping to run CCI XC tomorrow but I guess it will depend on weather overnight...

Update on the FB;

Despite weather Glanusk continues to run!! The Glanusk International Horse Trials continue with some minor changes Saturday 7th July, CCI*, National under 18 Championship and Open Novice under 18 section F qualifier continues to run and will start in the morning. Cross country starts at 1pm. On Saturday, other National competitions will not be running. A decision will be made at 2pm on Saturday to run all other National Competition for Sunday. Country Fair, Sheepdog Trials and shopping all open.

Yeah, slightly disingenuous but I guess it is for the general public to encourage them to come. Given that they were running over 200 In the National classes and 70 odd in the CCI I think the cancellation of the national classes is a bit more than a minor change!!

Delighted that they have decided to run the ONu18 - a lot of riders are already on site after long journeys so it makes sense :) Please please let the weather cheer up enough for them to run a skeleton Saturday and a full Sunday :o

I would wait a while and see. My suspicion is that it isn't the course that would be the problem: I know the ground there and it really does take the rain (up to a point:p) Friend who did BYEH said arena was great today - even with green 4yo didn't find it deep or slippy. I think the problem is all the other bits: being towed in and out, quagmire in the warm up etc etc. You have to decide if you are prepared to put up with all that to get the run, if it is on that is...
