Ok so go to My yard trimmer there to do friends horses, my dog got in the way a bit ok understand that was a problem so he was tied up.
But he was so antsy about me getting other horses in and out - on the other side of the yard -while he was trimming and saying in a loud voice the horse was fine till so many people turned up i ended up having to leave my own yard ,so he could just have the horses he needed for company: he takes so long to trim they get fidgety, and a couple of people standing quietly watching ....next time he wants a carpet laid too I also saw he hasnt got the strength/skill to hold hoof and trim rests it on his knee! Im not anti barefoot half my horses are apart from the ones whose feet were too worn down by roadwork to be comfortable.
Ok all shoot me down!!

Sounds like he's in the wrong job - or needs to learn about horse behaviour and get some horse handling skills before he continues.

Modified to add was it a red carpet he was wanting next time LOL

Totally sympathise ! I did have my chap barefoot for 2 years and had a barefoot trimmer who was great but used to take forever to trim (an hour)! farriers are qualified to trim whereas some others are not ! my farrier takes no time at all to trim and does equally if not better a job ! trimmers harp on about hoof balance blah blah but this is what farriers achieve generally automatically through their training. Hope the owner is aware of what is going on ! my trimmer although slow was great but neighbours had a trimmer who did such a shocking job that one of the horses went very lame - angles all wrong - v basic stuff !

As it isn't your horse I suppose a deep breath is in order rather than saying anything ! just hope the trimmer doesn't insist on very 3 weeks as some do !!!!!!!!!

now i find out he looked at one of my horses feet for 10 mins and made loads of comments about them to the horses sharer negative of course and no one asked him to
farrier trimmed them 2 weeks ago and they are longer than a barefoot trim

That is totally unprofessional, particularly if your horse wasn't one he was supposed to be trimming. Sounds like a bit of an egotistical prat to me tbh. Whereabouts are you based? We have a great trimmer come to do some of our horses, the others who are shod are of course done by our farrier.

To be fair to the trimmer I wouldn't be happy with a dog running around and getting in the way either, perhaps this made him a bit grumpy and the horse restless?

Can't see a problem with resting a hoof on his knee though as long as the job gets done
