Went to Golden Cross today for BD, only did Prelim 10, I didn't think we were at all ready for affiliated but we just went for more experience. It wasn't as scary as I was expecting! When I got on Shadow felt half asleep and could probably have done with longer warming up but she was going quite nicely by the time we went in.

Trotting round before the bell she was a bit looky as always and they had put flowers at A which I thought she might spook at but she didn't!

Both our centre lines were wobbly and drifting right,

our trotwork was ok but it's been better, canter and free walk weren't great. It wasn't our best test but I didn't think it was too bad and she's definitely less tense than she used to be.

Looked at the scores and we got 55.4% which I was a bit disappointed with but I suppose it's not too bad as it was affiliated and all the scores were quite low even though there were some really nice horses there. 1st and 2nd were on 62 and 63.something% and the rest were below 60%. We came 4th out of 7 which I'm really pleased with and I don't think that's bad for our first affiliated.

We got all 5's and 6's and the comments said she needs to work more over her back to go in a rounder outline.

As there were some combined training classes they had a 2'6''-2'9'' clear round and I decided to take Shad in.

The ground was a bit slippery and I could definitely tell she didn't have studs in, but she jumped a lovely clear.

Overall a very successful day and Shad didn't put a foot wrong!!

Back to GX again on Wednesday for Trailblazers, doing P10 again and N21!

Seahorse was there too with Halfpass (sorry I didn't get to speak to you much but it was lovely to meet you!) but I'll let her tell you how she got on.

Well done, it was nice to speak to you, although very briefly!
I came 3rd and was only about 0.5% in it. I scored 55.9% which I was a bit disappointed with, but I got 7's for both canters! I really let myself down though as I didn't bother reading through the test properly and thought I had to do a 15 m 1/2 circle returning to the track between B & M/ E & H, so I only scored 4 for both movements

He also did a flying change on my last canter across the diagonal, so got 4 for that and for the center line.
Comments were 'rider lost marks through innacuracy'

I was really pleased with Axey as he finds GX really scary and was relaxed for him, but still got comments on him being tense, she obviously hasn't seen what he is normally like lol!!
I'm also there again on wednesday doing P10 and P4, might be brave and do a Novice next time!
See you there

Thanks guys!!

Well done Sam, fantastic result for your first affiliated, glad to hear he went well!

Shad finds GX really spooky too, I think today is the first time she hasn't been really tense there. See you on Wednesday!

Well done you guys. I watched your test Helen and think Shadow is just lovely she looked really relaxed and was moving off the leg really nicely. You should be really proud of yourselves.
I'll be there on wednesday aswell. Seahorse can't manage without a groom

She has promised me though that wehn I start doing some tests on Alee that she will be just as attentive.
There was a really good trunout of HHOers today coz my OH (grey_gelding) was there too!!!

Urghh!! I want to go and do some Dressage but can't take any more days off work to do horsey things as I've only got a few days left to last me to March!!

Well done, tis scary doing Aff. I'm thinking about joining BD, but not sure whether I'm upto it. How did your score compare with what you usually get Unaff??

My last score unaffiliated was 73% and I got 55.9% this time but all the scores were a bit on the low side, and that judge is known for marking harshly.
I'll see how I get on tomorrow doing trailblazers. I normally get around 65% but he's going much better now.

Cor blimey! Don't think I'm ready then!

Usually get between 58% and 67% in BE, which for PN is about the equivalent of a high end Prelim test, and the odd score over 60% in Novice Unaff Dressage.

Maybe I'll stick to Unaff for now...

Good luck at the Trailblazers show.
