Good god. dragon driving again

Don't know why you torture yourselves by looking on there.
99% "ethic minority" selling pitiful creatures to people who don't have a hard enough heart to say no.
Tis very sad

yes sorry couldnt get the link to work properly, thats the one.

i wouldnt rule out buying anything from that site as there is a few private sellers on there, but i think you would have to be extremely careful what you buy, know someone whos got a couple of bargains unhandled. think id prefer that than ridden and driven at a year!

"Not a snob , and some very lovely ponies on their , but would never buy from there due to , it seems, no checking of age and condition to sell"

Do any sites check anything in the ads? Where do the dodgy dealers that we have all heard of advertise? I think you'll find they advertise on "reputable" sites.

A horse welfare could really make a good dent into bad horse management by using this kind of advertising portal. Do you think they do already? Shame could save them miles in fuel. There obviously is a demand so dont buy from these folks as someone clearly does.

There are good adverts as well but yes lots of sad ones. So dont buy the sad underage ones. It encourages them to get a replacement ££££££££££££££££.

I very nearly text him, but I just don't have the money right now :(

I would love to buy him and give him the love and time to mature that he deserves!!

He would look lovely alongside by little cobby!

Poor chap :(

I wouldn't touch anything that had done that much that young, the problems that would occur in later life are just not worth it.

something needs to be done. The welfare people need to make a stand .

And stand against what it's not illegal what can they do ? You can advise the ignorant new horse owner but trust me these guys are something else there's a whole world out there that you just can't believe.

I made a comment about DD a few weeks ago and was shot down in flames..... This sort of proves all I said. If DD and similar advertisers, eg Preloved, took a bit of responsibilty and used some sort of ethical approach just maybe they could start to make a difference. As it is they appear to endorse ridden/driven babies. Oh well, money in their pockets is more important to them than ethics I guess.

If dd & nowhere else advertised them they'd just be going through a low end sales ring instead, so given the option its the lesser of two evils.

Your not going to stop this by not advertising it if anything it shines light on it because the ads are viewed by a wider audience DD is not making this happen it always did.
If it gets the issues discussed makes the better horse owners aware of what goes I think it's a good thing.
As for the don't buy one it encourages them argument I accept and understand the logic of it but also understand what drives people to buy one and seek to give it a better life I will not condem anyone one for doing that if they have the facilities and the money.
When I became a welfare officer this underbelly to horse ownership was as shock to me I had to wise up fast I could tell you things that would make your hair curl .
It made me a firm member of the PTS dont pass on brigade turely worse things happen to horses .

DD is owned and run by a certain ethnic group, so not likely to monitor anything. After all, many of them see no problem with driving a six month old foal down a duel carriage way.
The only way to stop them is to not buy from them.
They rely on the soft hearted to buy their over priced, badly put together animals.

I saw this ad the other day. The sad thing is he could be bought by someone who lacks experience and wants a riding pony for their child, as the ad says he is ridden away. Pony's health and wellbeing aside, this could be a recipe for disaster. I expect there is a chance that if one turned him away now and let him grow on he could be lovely - at least he would be a doddle to re-back, but it does sound as if he has worked terribly hard.
My other bugbear is that there are so many colts advertised on DD, some of them really indifferent sorts, and the seller says they would make good stallions. As if there aren't enough poorly bred ponies without homes already.
I can understand it if they are very young, but for goodness sake, have them cut before they make they way out into the world. Who wants an entire pony for their children!

Is it really what ethnic group ?

I was trying to not get infarcted for using a bad word!
Its a site for travellers to sell their unwanted wares.
But you only have to look at many of the ads to realise that.

oMG , DD again :(

Not a snob , and some very lovely ponies on their , but would never buy from there due to , it seems, no checking of age and condition to sell :(
What a strange attitude!

Wherever I buy from, I check the condition, apparent age and fitness for purpose of the animal myself.

I have bought from one of the 'ethnic minority types' from an ad on there. I have seen this man several times at Holmfirth unwarranted auction market, talking to other 'emt's. He showed me some of his breeding stock, which he is justifiably proud of, mainly Appaloosas and Friesians. They are living on his family farm, with fabulous facilities which I would be lucky to be able to afford if I won the lottery.
Some people are very quick to judge on appearance without actually knowing the people they are judging.

But like puppy farming it goes on, because people DO buy them.

If no body looked on the site, and the hit rate fell, they wouldn't advertise there. And if nobody felt sorry and bought them, they'd stop trying to sell them. These people aren't stupid. Breed it, advertise it, sell it. Full circle, rinse and repeat. If no one rose to the bait and bought, it wouldn't last long.
