Good lord....give me strength

[ QUOTE ]
im not ruining him!! all in all 40 mins with a bit on upside down, wont ruin my boy! im sure you tia have made mistakes!! but we dont all go criticising you on the forum!

[/ QUOTE ]

Trust me can easily ruin a horse, I have seen it myself, was perfect until they tried a different bit incorrectly for 40 mins- 1 hour, next time they put his snaffle in went absulutely bonkers took ages to rewind

Feel free to criticise me when I do something seriously ignorant - I have no issue with that in the slightest. In fact I welcome it
smile.gif
. I would be highly mortified if I were ever to use a piece of tack incorrectly on my horses with the potential to damage them.....and I would fully expect someone to say something.

the horse looks very very uncomfortable, and i'm not surprised.
ignorance is not really any excuse for causing such discomfort. your friend who fitted it is, i'm sorry to say, an idiot, and you are a fool for believing that she had a clue what she was doing. don't let anyone do such things to your horse unless you're sure they've got a clue!
sorry, but you need to go to a good instructor and get a few pointers, really. this is good advice, not nasty criticism, i promise, and your horse will appreciate it if you do.

Sophie...

Do you understand where you went wrong? Are you willing to except that you need to find someone more experienced to advise you next time?
smile.gif

If so, you are not a terrible owner and you will not go to hell!

I think everyone's learnt their lesson & everyone's overreacting abit here..
I can see both sides of this argument, but it's not going to solve anything - sophie knows what was wrong & she'll know to tell her friend about this now & she'll also know how to use the pelham correctly herself - it's no use dwelling on it and saying that her horse will be ruined, it's not very nice
frown.gif

Truce?

um yes i think i know not to put a bit in upside down now! enough kind CC said i think, i feel like crying now, you have all made me feel like my horse needs to be reported to the RSPCA!!!!

my friend is very blonde and hasnt used the bit since the horse died over 3 years ago, so please dont start bitching about somebody you dont know!!

Sorry but he says he can't possibly cut off his head tonight as a busy day ahead (ha ha) tomorrow. However, if he keeps me awake snoring tonight I might just do it myself. He's also not sure how easy it would be to saw off your own head, if he manages it, will let you all know. I am so sure of his love that I don't need extravagent gestures!!!

re "she'll also know how to use the pelham correctly herself"

umm, if no one experienced shows her how, how on earth is she going to know how to fit it, how tight to have the curb chain, whether to have roundings or not, how to cope with 2 reins...

add to that the fact that pelhams (especially nice big fat rubber or vulcanite ones, which seem so mild!), according to my horse dentist, cause no end of damage, including bone fractures to the jawbone where the bit sits, because people can get so much leverage with them.
i've had a 6 yr old on my yard with these fractures, her jaw felt weird and pulpy where the bit sat, and x-rays finally showed the damage. she'd been to 2 different "professional" yards for "schooling" before coming to me. she couldn't cope with any contact, panicked and held her breath when cantering, waiting for the pain. completely and irrevocably wrecked as a riding horse, at 6 years old.

Actually I had to go out and collect my daughter from the school bus.....however watching you chop your head with a chainsaw could be ummm interesting!
grin.gif

It isn't a case of kiss and make up - I bear no grudge to Sophie, why in the world would I? What an odd thing to think, LOL!! Perhaps on this forum we should all keep to the, oh so very safe, "aww pretty ponies"
grin.gif
.

Anyway I am off out now for scrummy yummy supper so you all chat amongst yourselves.

Shilasdair, are we the only ones not taking this thread seriously???!! OH says he could cut off YOUR head if you like, but would rather not do his own at present. I hope the chap on the other site didn't turn up during Eastenders, I would have been very cross indeed.

I have my chainsaw licence - would you like to pop over and perhaps I can help? I think head is a bit OTT though don't you? How about a toe instead.

Right I am really off now!!

if people dont criticize then how are these girls going to learn anything ??
its not a nasty thing its positive and helpful it only becomes nasty when people cant take it !!

What do you think I am - a German performance artist????
Kerilli - I'll take your OH on with a chainsaw. Even with normal household goods my OH thinks I'm lethal so imagine the damage I could do!
What do you mean 'not taking this seriously'

I could be wrong....but I think Sophie221 knows the Pelham was incorrectly fitted....and is praying for equine forgiveness as she doesn't want to end up in Hell with me and my chainsaws...
Mission accomplished

I agree, people don't learn if they are not told otherwise.

However, there are ways to do it.
smile.gif

But it did get a bit bit nasty!
Kerelli - maybe she will get help from an instructor or someone & Please don't try to undermine what i said by going into details about curb chains etc. because this was never part of the criticism anyway...

I don't like all this arguing - these forums are becoming really bitchy.

I don't need to save you a seat Jade_Wisc as you appear to fully furnish everywhere and everything.
Oh, and with mini's I believe 'the shorter they are, the closer to hell' so it'll already be there.
