Nice clean or new NZ to pop on them - haha i had to chuckle at that, everywinter i buy a new rug or two and yes for the first time they have it on for about 2 mins its clean..but bringing them in...
..i wouldnt neccaserily call it a nice, clean or new NZ rug!!! and it ways a tonne, so the next time i put it on them its like throwing a pile of bricks over your shoulder!!!!!!!!! because its caked with bloody mud!! haha
Having had a disasterous weekend finding out that my new 90 bales of hay have bl**dy mites in it and spent the whole weekend feeling itchy and sick to the back teeth...not wanting to go anywhere near my stable and having to turf all my tack, medical stuff, rugs and other things outside under tarpulin until it can be cleaned and de-mited....and worrying sick about my horse getting them and whether I will be able to feed the hay....I would have to say that I am looking forward to a freezing cold, rock hard frost for several weeks at least!!!
Great things about winter in the country:
-Cups of tea after a long day at the yard
-Crisp, refreshing air
-Fuzzy ponies
-Hunting
-No plaiting
-No horseflies and mosquitos!
-Harvest supper, bonfire night, kids trick or treating on Halloween, Christmas
City:
-When Starbucks start making gingerbread lattes and the Red Cups come back for the Christmas season!!
-Amazing Christmas lights
-Christmas Markets!! In Nottingham we have a German Christmas Market every year - lots of little wooden cabins selling all sorts of delicious food and handmade gifts etc.
-People who really shouldn't wear revealing clothes are now more tastefully dressed
Being home at a reasonable time in the evening!!
I find myself still at the yard at 9 / 10 ish some evenings in the summer and although its beacuse i'm enjoying it it always nice to be in and home by 5/6 ish and just able to sit and relax!!!
Hot chocolate with a hint of malibu at the end of a long day
Wrapping up warm in my sexy wooly scarf
Sleeping in late on a Sunday because it's cold
Fresh fallen and untouched snow
Knowing my guinea pigs are snuggled up in their warm hay at night.
Long afternoons by the radiator with the computer on talking to my friends.

i also love the feeling of the night before a day of snow...listening to the weather forcast and then running off to go to sleep hoping to find a white background to the curtains in the morning and all very quiet outside!!!..and then dressing up warm, running up to the slope fields with my empty feed bag and sliding down the hills!!..its walking back up them i hate!!
As far as my horse is concerned..the only good thing about the winter is the end of it. She hates the cold and the wet. Still plucking up the courage to break it to her that we haven't got an indoor school to work in this winter...

9.listening to the munch munch of the hay
10.mulled wine.
that one made me smile, I love it when Murphy gets a frosty tash, and when it snows he uses his tash to wipe snow off the grass when he eats, it's sooooo cute
