sorry phone died while I was with the patient - poo #2 did land this afternoon, slower than Iā€™d have liked but it was a very normal poo of good volume šŸ™Œ heā€™s now back to hassling his girlfriend and inspecting pockets. Will continue to keep a close eye and heā€™ll get the meds vet left until the course runs out. Thankyou for all your kind words, suggestions (buscopan tablets!) and thoughts. And now I breathe.

Glad you got progress! I had a horse present as yours has last year and the vet suggested a virus. Just mentioning it as he went through the colic/ not colic / wtf? stage for a good week on and offā€¦.so keep your eyes peeled, it could present again. Fingers crossed though for plain sailing!

Yes vet did suggest it could be a virus or infection of some sort thatā€™s got him down and the colicky-ness might be a symptom so Iā€™m hoping the numerous powders sheā€™s left for us will keep whatever it is at bay. Not 100% happy that I donā€™t know the cause but, it is what it is. Iā€™ve printed some signs to attach to the fence line too just incase someoneā€™s fed him a ā€œtreatā€ that didnā€™t agree šŸ˜¬ itā€™s so awful seeing them out of sorts šŸ˜

I brought mine in to monitor more closely. He seemed to have difficulty peeing and I was convinced that he was trying to pass a kidney stone or something, though just seemed to be a symptom of abdominal discomfort. Monty had antibiotics as we suspected urinary tract problems- Iā€™m guessing your powders are antibiotics?

Yes one of them is an antibiotic Iā€™m 99% sure, havenā€™t got them to hand though. Heā€™s been drinking a lot more by this afternoon/evening too & due a soup in an hour or so šŸ¤ž

ETA does sound very similar & theyve both had puffy lymphā€™s under their chins that I put down to the mass of pollen off a willow. But I wonder if somethings upset him that the other is more immune to because sheā€™s older and been about more šŸ™ˆ I guess itā€™s a mystery ā˜¹ļø, so long as he doesnā€™t go back again now Iā€™ll be happy.
