Yesterday we had our dear old tb pts. He was 24 and had had a brilliant summer but to put him through another winter would have been wrong. He had several things going on that would have made life miserable for him once the ground got hard and it got cold and wet. He went with all who loved him around him. It was a very very sad day. What broke my heart though was the reaction of our other two. After Minnie had gone down we brought them over to see him. The look of concern on my daughter's pony's face was so sad. He couldn't quite understand what had happened and he kept coming back to him to have another look to make sure. Our mare who had lived with Minnie for 8 years came over, had a good look and then seemed to accept it. Later however as Minnie was taken away along the drive she came to the fence and walked along it next the trailer all the way to the gate. She couldn't see him but must have sensed that he was in there. After he had gone through the gate she stood and called after him for some time. They were not a pair bond just good friends. Minnie loved her dearly, she was always a bit aloof with him, obviously she loved him really.
