Carries on creakily
It’s not been a good day for some of us HHOers. I sadly have another RIP notice.
The elderly JRT had to be PTS this morning. It’s never good when the vet says ‘I wasn’t expecting to find that’. He had been trundling on okay-ish after having his bits of rabbit bone extracted from between his teeth a few weeks ago. Yesterday morning he presented with a very swollen eye, so off he went to the OOH vets for what we thought would be a hay seed or something.
It turned out he had a ‘retrobulbular mass with cystic properties’ lodged behind the eye. Not good news, and the kindest thing was to let him go. He’d been fine on Saturday and gone for his usual walk, so he wasn’t ill for long.

He was a little bugger, but a lovable one. He was 15, and seemed to have been with us for ever. Son no 1 (now 25) was still at primary school when we got him. He remember his teacher saying at the end of the school day, as the children were waiting to be dismissed ‘If you are collecting a new puppy, you may get up and leave now’.
