Gorgeous George - Sad News

I remember you ! Im so sorry. It's always hard when they leave us. He had a wonderful life with you and couldn't have asked for better. Take comfort in knowing that you did the right thing by him and that he is suffering no more. XX

Your love for Gorgeous George really shone through in your posts. So sorry he has gone, take care of yourself and try to remember the happier times.

Hi I have not been on here for a very long time, but I maybe there are still people here who perhaps remember me and George from when I used to post regularly. I just wanted to say that very sadly my beloved George was put to sleep on 6th October. He had been semi retired for the last 3 years after having an operation on his suspensories that wasn't 100% successful and then developing arthritis in a number of his joints. He was doing well and enjoyed pootling about and was still eating his weight in hay/grass everyday! Sadly around July he went downhill and was struggling to play with his mates and was finding his walk hacks difficult, and the vet discovered he had arthritis in his stifle joints as well, so with the vets advice we gave him extra bute so he was comfortable and we enjoyed the rest of the summer together, but I wanted him to go before he really really started to struggle and before the winter set in. He went to the rainbow bridge very peacefully on a glorious sunny day, I can't believe that he is gone and I miss him dreadfully, he really was a very special boy. Thank you for reading, especially if you've read my posts in the past.

Lost a few and know how you feel - its heartbreaking, thought with you - run free George along with out dog George who we lost 3 years ago.

Another here who remembers you and George from a while ago. It was always really clear in your posts how much you loved him. I'm sorry you had to make the hard decision you did.

Ohhhh :( I remember your posts too. He was such a lovely chap, so sorry to hear you've lost him . I hope you have lots of super memories though, what a fabulous horse he was.

Another who remembers your early posts from when George arrived. He was very obviously dearly loved. So sorry for your loss. Xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. He had a charmed life with you, being so well loved and cared for to the end.

Very sorry for your loss. It’s never easy. But you enjoyed a happy last summer together and to peacefully say goodbye on a gorgeous day after a long life of being loved and cared for is a good thing. XxX

Thank you all for your very kind words, and it is so nice that George was remembered by so many of you. I know I'm biased but he really was one in a million. I really am finding it so hard to manage without him, OH is not at all keen for me to have another which is difficult, although I do have a lovely share at my current yard, who is helping with cuddles!

I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. I too remember your posts and loved reading them.
I haven't been looking on h&h for a few years (my beloved fred was put to sleep about four winters ago and I've not been able to post much since) but I do remember your posts and followed your journey with George and remembter thinking what a lucky horse he was to have such a kind, adoring owner as you. I hope you're ok and wish you peace. He was lucky to have you.

Oh no, Im so sorry to hear this news. I remember you and George too and your love for him was always apparent...RIP gorgeous boy. You take care lovely xx

I remember George. I am more of a lurker these days on here now but a thread about you two at a show jumping competition was one of the first threads I remember reading.

So sorry to hear this news. Xx

I remember your lovely posts about George, whom you clearly adored and I am so sorry to read your news but he had a wonderful life with you. As someone else said, he was an H&H legend. Look after yourself x
