I went over to see her today at Leahurst. It is the first time I have seen her since she came out of isolation so she got lots of cuddles and scratches...
The good news is that she is eating normally now (pretty much ignored me
) and her poo is now completely normal... that was the most wonderful news I have heard because I thought she still had the diarrahoea. I could also take her for a walk and some grass which she seemed to enjoy
The bad news is that she has an odema (sp?) at the back of her scar where the belly bandage finished... it is like two sacks of fluid but it is not hot or sore which is a good sign. The surgeon said that it is more than likely this is because she was in confinement after the surgery when really they like to get them walking about asap to prevent this but she was in for four days after surgery.
The other bit of bad news is that her front left and right hind legs are swollen. I looked at the right hind and it is no worse than it usually is when she has been stood in due to the lymphangitis she had last year. She has a few scabs on it that I will clean off and get right when she gets home, but they are hosing her legs at the moment and not drying them which will not help. The front right is sore when you palpatate it, and is quite warm. I found a big scab on it when I picked her feet out to take her for a walk but the vet had already gone by this point so will mention it when they phone in the morning. It looks as though she has caught it when she has been getting up from surgery or something like that, and knowing how she reacts to things, her leg could be sore and warm because this has become slightly infected.
The other bit of good news is that they wanted me to pick her up tomorrow... however, she is going straight to the Yorkshire Equine Clinic from the hospital because I am away from 29th and I wanted to make sure there was someone who could walk her 4 times a day and take her for some grass. So I am hopefully going to pick her up Boxing Day morning!!!
