I don't think Broadway Boy is getting up - it was almost a hurdle fall

Yes. They often do with really bad falls, either when there’s a bad outcome or the result is still unknown.

As much as I love to see racehorses, looking so fit and well, I just find the fatalities harder and harder to watch as I get older.
I find some solace in knowing that horses in races like this are 'older' and have had some life, but it is just so desperately sad to see these majestic animals fall to their deaths and for nothing more than money really.
