I don't think mine stopped.
It was in partial use over the winter but I have far too much grass now.

I am just off to see if I can use some sheep...

It's half-way through April and I have just bought yet more big bale haylage, normally all mine are out at night by now, but instead they are all in as I am trying to conserve what little grass I have. Fed-up with mucking out 7 and filling 14 haynets and bags for haybars. But one god thing - at least the ponios aren't in danger of laminitis.

Anyone got spare grazing around Herts?! Or want a companion pony for a few months to lighten my load (or two, or three...) In fact have them all, please

My horse is still in over night and eats every scrap of hay which is unusual for him. Even in the winter there was hay left in the morning but his field is still looking pretty bare.

Mine sort of came through in my two paddocks that were fertilised so the boys are in bottom paddock, leaving middle 1 till mid summer and we are fertilising top (winter) no grass left paddock this weekend ready for winter!

Send Connor my way!

We've got sod all grass. Can't believe I'm still feeding hay at this time of year. Even considering asking farmer if I can rent a bit of land in order to increase my acreage.

Just wish the weather would warm up! I shouldn't be defrosting my windcsreen on the car when we're heading for May!!

Know what you mean, mine are still in at night

and eating all their hay up. I just had to buy some more hay which really hurt (usually I have enough of my own, but this year I ran out). The grass is really short. Usually by this time I am panicing that they are all getting too fat!

Oldmare - by this time last year I had grass EVERYWHERE and my lot were already on restricted grazing. This year they are still eating mammoth amount of hay, and at a crippling £4 a bale I am rapidly running out of money

Not a scrap of grass even on the rested part of the field that they haven't been on since early september. Am I the only one who is glad about the lack of grass? My horse usually resembles a hot air balloon by mid April despite 24/7 muzzling but at the moment she is looking fitter and leaner than ever, and can go out all day with no muzzle with no worries from me.

ok we have lots of grass...gloat gloat....want to send a few my way...

however on a serious note get some fertillizer on it now....whilst they are not on it..fertillizer prices are sky rocketing....we
are just ordering ours....

Still no grass up here in Northumberland and my horses are eating haylage like its going out of fashion. It is also still really cold at nights so I haven't been able to reduce the number of rugs yet. Also with all the rain we've had this week my gateways are like soup again! Starting to fantasize about hard ground and heat ..........

I went to Spain at the beginning of the month and was hoping to come back to Spring, light nights, riding after work. Instead we landed and drove home in a Blizzard and my horses are still eating me out of house and home!! Always hungry!
I thought our plane had taken a wrong turn and dumped me in Narnia, where it's always winter and never Christmas.

Oh to be British eh?!

A bit of growth but nothing like it should be for April. Not bad news though as I have one fattie. They've wintered very well and I don't need a flush of grass.

Well, it's growing a bit. I just keep cheering myself up that I'm not worried (yet) about laminitis with my two. Every cloud has a silver lining!

We have no grass what so ever. I'm still feeding hay, in fact had yet another delivery today. Still feeding hard feed too. This time last year Crop was out 24/7 and living on grass alone. Its a nightmare and no sign of it coming through either

Just starting to grow now, mind, it will probably bypass the spring growth and go straight to summer crispness if we continue with no rain and these temperatures, 29C today and still 13C out there at 10.30pm.

Have just had to buy in more hay.
