there was a race a few years ago where james tudor, well known point to point jockey and amateur jockey broke his stirrup leather 3 out, kicked the other stirrup out and jumped the next 2 fences and went on and won. Ive got a feeling the saddle had slipped badly too or that might have been a different race.... Anyhoo, its amazing what some jockeys can do!!!

i very very nearly managed to copy this today! i was on a new that came to us today to do a peice of work and i forgot about the cows in the adjoining feild. went past the gateway and the horse shot sideways and i came right out the side door with still a foot in the stirrup and holding the reins. Guess what video clip flashed across my mind!! i really really tried to do it but just couldnt make it had to jump out the stirrup to avoid falling badly and was GUTTED!!! needless to say, next time we went past that gate i was definatly holding nigel neckstrap!!
