My horse is turning into a complete and utter numpty will the slightest of chills in the air, even though rugged and of good weight thinks its starvation time now its getting cooler!!
Her manners are going because she just thinks she is starving even though she clearly looks good at present!!

Who else has noticed their horse is going into that funny winter mode where they can change personality a bit and into a twit?!?
Or is it just seren?

Mine is starting to do that..
If I am leading her in from the field (bearing in mind she is a hippo shaped thoroughbred) she will drag me to all grass or any green patch in concrete determined that she is a starved rescue case

I put it down to the grass starting to lose its goodness, my bunch have been happy all summer on restricted grazing with supplemented feeding and hay, now they are starting to act like they are never fed, soon be time to open up grazing a bit methinks once the last flush is through. But I have noticed growth has slowed right down here.

Glad its not just us then, didnt think it was, forgot about that little winter treat, her manners were pretty terrible tonight, and i have always been proud of her good manners but in winter it seems, plus the fact she is getting older, she is turning into a right grumpy old moo bag!!

Oh yes, we pig-rooted round the field this morning (me shrieking) and followed it up with some lambjumps and bunny hops - all this because I asked for trot

Yep, mine's gone nutty too. I thought it was because I had clipped her (easier for her to pi$$ about when she's not lugging a fur coat around!)

Yes my lad turns into grumpy horse from hell when the first chills start...but he will have to grin and bear it (as will I!) as he needs to grow a decent coat before he has a rug on and perhaps get some more weight off too! It makes handling him awful and riding is like dicing with death! But I have to grind through it as he is carrying far too much weight for rugs at the moment.

Yes all 3 of mine are convinced it is winter, both 2 youngsters are in lightweights, fatty ID mare is naked but both her and my filly were stroppy this morning and chucked their buckets on the floor in disgust this morning when they had finished....!
