I am sitting on the sofa with a nasty case of "school rash" on my left arm/elbow, a numb left bum cheek and a seriously throbbing pain in my right hip. Husband is searching for the walking stick as I type.
He is officially a muppet - or I am - or both.
I've been riding, long-reining and lunging him in walk only for the past week on the vet's orders. Today, I thought I'd ride him in the school and as he was being sooooooo good (although felt a little sharp), I thought I'd ask for a little trot to see if he was sound with me on top. After four or five lovely, level trot strides, he thought it would be far more fun to canter . . . FAST . . . and rather than pushing him on to let him get it out of his system, I tried to bring him back to trot . . . he said "erm no" and proceeded to kangaroo across the school until we got to X at which point he dropped his shoulder and I came out the side door.
Bottom line is he's feeling rather well and simply needs more work. I couldn't feed him any less if I tried . . . he gets a small handful of his Alfa A Molasses Free as a carrier for his bute and a tablespoon of raspberry yoghurt (once a day), a large (soaked) haynet at night and a teeny haynet to keep him going until I get up there to turn him out. He's out on ok grass. He gets no sugary treats, no even apples and carrots. He's just full of himself.
Sigh.
