Farrier came early this morning so GreyDonkey got to go out in the field  HURRAH! He couldn't believe his luck . . . put his head down to graze and then I could literally see the wheels turning . . . hang on, I don't have a headcollar on . . . I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! And off he went. If he could have turned cartwheels he would have. He behaved like a cross between a particularly overjoyed Tigger and Desert Orchid for a good three/four minutes then gave a big sigh and put his head down and scoffed. It was soooo lovely to see him so obviously enjoying himself . . . performed some very impressive extended trot . . . now let's hope that the combination of the shoes, bute, turnout and being brought back into work (that's next week) do their job and he comes sound. Fingers crossed. Certainly didn't look lame this morning :p.

He only went out for a couple of hours - and I will turn him out again this afternoon while I skip him out, etc.

lol bless him, i love how one of mine does a sort of cursory 'yeehaaa' for about 20 seconds and then gets straight down to eating while one of the ponies will strut his stuff for 10 minutes 'reclaiming' the field:D

Bless him indeed . . . he did some pretty impressive airs above the ground . . . just so very happy to be out. Did my heart good to see him stretching his legs and using himself like that.

Now to get him fully sound. He's back into work on Monday . . . that should be fun ;).

I bet he was chuffed!

And I also bet you didn't video it for us all to see  :p :D
Really good to hear he has got his playboots on now, fingers xx'd progress carries on smoothly :)

You win that bet . . . as I pulled away from the house this morning (running late as usual) I realized that against all best intentions I had left my camera behind . . . but, yes, I am very pleased that he has his playboots on too (great expression) . . . roll on soundness so that he can go hacking with BigFuzzy :).

From the state of his bed and his (relatively) untouched hay when I went back up this afternoon I think once I brought him back in he settled down in his box and had a good kip . . . he sooooo needed to go out, stretch his legs, relax in the sun and have horsey company.

He went out again for another hour this afternoon while I skipped out, tidied up and did yard chores. Tomorrow he's going back out with his herd mates (he was next door today) . . . he will be relieved to be getting back into a more familiar routine.

Onwards and upwards.
