Splotchy i have questions for you.
I have only ever owned one greyhound and he was getting on a bit in age and was incredibly lazy, i mean super lazy.
We are going to be looking for a dog in the new year and i would love another greyhound but really dont want to have super lazy dog.
I have had spaniels alot and am use to the hyperness of them but dont really want that this time.
I really want a dog who can chill out at home and be happy to not do much by also be happy to come for a run or bike ride or day out somewhere with me and not be like the OH sighing and acting like he would rather be in bed!
Is my dream dog going to be a greyhound??

Seriously though, I have always had slightly older greyhounds before (6 years plus) and they were pretty inactive and werent that bothered about running around much even when they had the opportunity.
My present two are 2 and 5 years old, and the difference is amazing
Yes they will laze around in the garden when it is sunny,and they are very easy to have around the house, but they are also really responsive and like nothing better than having a good time on a walk
Even though they are sprinting dogs they enjoy long walks just as well as a quick whizz around the field, and definitely would not be complaining or dragging behind
Personally I could not cope with something as hyper as some spaniels seem to be, so a greyhound is a great compromise - a dog which will be active when you want to be, but will also be quiet and easy to have around when you prefer to be quieter

After my last dog being a social mess i really want to be able to go to the dog park without a muzzle!
I hoestly haven't seen many here but they have a greyhound rescue so that where i will be going when the time comes.

Yes they are good with other dogs - mine have never been muzzled, but obviously you must be aware that they might be keen on small and fluffy types
Although luckily I have only had one which has been like that - just specify to the rescue place that it must be safe with small dogs, cats etc and they will find one to match your needs
Hmmm, well I have to admit that they do shed, but I suppose that most dogs do! Certainly not excessively though. The only thing you might notice is that when you get your rescue, and it is living in a house not a kennel, they usually do a HUGE moult. Then things settle down back to normal

I have a bit of a soft spot for greys we walk out with a failed racer over the feilds out the back of our house and as its all fenced she and loco get off lead for a run around, loco can keep up with or be ahead of most dogs when running but its so funny to see her little miffed face when she realises once again she cannot keep up with her friend in the speed department

couldn't resist adding my houndy photo I've got one of each temperment. Mel the brindle is very laidback and DeeDee is a total clown. Both of mine are happy with a 20 min walk as much as a 3-4 mile yomp, and they will sleep whenever nothing else is happening.

I have a soft spot for brindles as my first greyhound was brindle, for ages after I lost her I couldnt see one without getting upset though
