We're about to move our grey mare to a new yard which is absolutely ideal in every way except that they have rubber mats and small chopped straw beds.
The standard of care is very high and they skip out loads, but my dapple grey mare loves to roll and lie down and I've got a feeling she's going to look like a hippo within days.
Anyone have tips on keeping horses clean if they're on mats? I'm planning to use a turnout rug over a fleece or similar instead of her normal stable rug - does this actually work or does the grime even soak thru these.
The yard does have a nice wash box so I can clean her up if absolutely necessary, but I'm concerned that she might turn dirty yellow!
