I was looking for some advice if possible.

I was wondering whether there were any spplements on the market which could help the muscles repiar after a strain injury/soft tissue injury? My pony is currntly being fed the recommended amount of Top Spec Feed balancer, Speedibeat and Healthy Hooves.

Below is what happened:

My 11.2hh dartmoor slipped on the wet yard on the 1st November and did the splits resulting in a groin and hamstring strain to the right hind leg.

He then had one week's full box rest and a further 3 weeks in his stable save for 2x 30 min periods f exercise. Since then he wa turned back out and I continued to exercise every other day building in more periods of trot. He was starting to look much better (he was sound after 2 weeks of the initial injury but continu to be sore and swinging his right hind out in trot).

However over he last two weeks he has not had much exercise because of not being able to turnout because of the ice on the yard as too dangerous to cross. He has slipped a little when I made an attempt to clear the yard to get him into one of the arenas.

So now h is very stiff again and I am monitoring to see if this is due to lack of appropriate exercise.

Soft tissue injuries can take ages to heal fully hun and a 2nd minor injury might very well undo a lot of the good that had been done. But as far as supplements go, I wouldn't bother looking any further or being tempted to spend your money on something in a desperate attempt to help your ned. If he's having a good, balanced diet already, his body will have all it needs to actually rebuild the damage tissues. Pumping more and more stuff into him will just give him expensive pee. Tendons and ligaments do heal but in their own good time. I'd carry on with a good diet, and appropriate turnout when it's safe to do so. If he can't be turned out, you could do some carrot stretches in the stable with him and/or give him a daily wonderful and deep massage over his whole body - he'll love it and it should help to keep him positive in his outlook. It's that that will be your biggest enemy. A final thing that I always forget but that can make a big difference is that YOU must stay positive too! Every time you go in to see him, leave your worries outside his stable. Be delighted to see him. Tell him he's a lucky lad getting yet another massage. Tell him you wait til your well again lad then we'll see how well my massages and stretches work. Enjoy him at the only level he can give you just now and stay strong and positive that in a year you'll look back at this and laugh! Thinking of you hun xxx
