Pony came with a mane which had been cut with scissors parallel to the floor which did not look good... Friend pulled it with a solocomb and it looked better but then started to stand on end. It's been properly pulled since but half of it is still very thick and standing on end up towards the ears. He's rubbed the bit on the lower half so that is thinner and is laying flat nicely.

I've tried putting it in loose plaits and have pretty much left it alone for almost 4 months but it is still standing on end!

Question is do I just give up and hog it? Will it ever lay flat? Has anyone else been through this? Is there light at the end of the tunnel??!!!

He's a section D. I really don't want to hog him but he looks like a right pleb...

:(

Im going through this at the moment! Ziggy had rubbed her mane off over the winter and after about 4 months i've ended up with a big mohecan , best thing i do isz to water it and lay it flat and then hairspray like mad everytday and its starting to get the idea!

Hi, im trying to grow my horses mane out from being hogged , he is now in a snuggy turnout hood to lay it over and its working !

Hi I chopped my horses mane off with a solo comb, not realising, unlike my previous horse that because it was so thick it wouldn't just lay flat and now sticks up like some sort of punk horse. :o

I bought this - 'EQYSS RANGE MEGA-TEK REBUILDER' from Horsehealth online which is said to help it grow out alot quicker! It's doing the trick so far. growing out much faster! yay :D

Unfortunately solo combs aren't any use on thick manes..as you've now found out :(

It's a matter of waiting now, but it WILL grow out eventually :)

Stiff hair gel and plaits left in for a few days, I would keep the mane fairly long as he is a native. The longer it is the more it wll fall naturally.

A girl at the yard did this with her cob's mane and it worked brilliantly well.

My horse is growing out his mane currently and looks like a punk. :(

oooo and today I gave her a bath and used lots of conditioner on her mane and combed it over, so when it dried it was silky and flexible and flat, and then hairsprayed like mad to keep it that way!
