Well, my horse obviously fancied a few days off, because I found him this morning with one of his eyes mostly closed and one further inspection found what looked like a small scratch on his cornea and a small cloudy area as well. Vet came, put dye in his eye, and he's got an ulcer nearly the size of my small fingernail on his eye!
So, now he has to stay in a dark stable for a few days and have antibiotic eyedrops in 4 times a day! He's looking quite sad and sorry for himself. Of course I was hoping to do quite a lot of work with this week and next, getting ready to run him again weekend after next (he ran on the 25th feb, but got quite tired towards the end of the race, felt like he needed to be a touch fitter). So now I have a horse on boxrest even though he isn't lame. Very frustrating!!
Anyway, my question is about something completely different. My bosses niece's 11.2hh Section A mare is staying with us for a while, and the owner is desperate for me to school her a bit while she's here, but I'm worried that I'm too big and heavy for her (she looks quite fine boned to me, but it's been a while since I've seen a pony). I'm 5'6 and just over 9st with my riding gear on. What do you think?
