Grrrrrrrrh My 1st RANT ever on here ..cost of Shoeing..is it worth it!

From what I have gathered elsewhere, you are paying a reasonable price for NB shoes. I do understand your frustration at the ever increasing costs, unfortunately it is the state of the times at the moment, as with every other aspect of life.

£60 per set here - Cheshire, one of the more expensive counties.

Well worth it though. Farrier is fab, reliable, will pop a shoe back on free of charge (my neddy is a pain for losing shoes).

Two price rises in that space of time is a bit much though.

If someone wants to moan abnout their farrier, let them...
the price increase will prob be due to fuel etc., still doesn't mean we can't moan!

Thanks yes, one of the points, rather than Farrier bashing that I was trying to make

I pay £79 a set for normal shoes inc road nails. The price does keep creeping up I guess his fuel and material costs have gone rocketing up with everything else.

However, I just went riding on Exmoor whilst on holiday - cost £37.50 for 2 hours on a horse that was lovely but riding school if you know what i mean. Made me think my own horse was pretty good value and lovely to ride, perfectly schooled etc

Yes I know my boys are good value, in the scheme of things ..... but you can see why these Centres have to charge so much ..... but TBO I cannot see how they make their money, unless they are a Vet and their OH a Farrier

Unfortunately it seems farriers in Sussex like to charge high. My sister pays £91!!! for set of rim shoes with stud holes in the back!

Eaglestone - think you have my old farrier - sounds like it anyway with the two apprentices and the frequent price rises!!!

Mine hasn't got shoes at moment and is trimmed by a barefoot trimmer, but she may have to have them back on possibly - I'm dreading it as the cost is so high nowadays! Definitely worth seeing if I can get by with hoof boots!!

To those that are paying a lot less at the moment, enjoy it, as I doubt very much it will continue. As I said in my previous post, the price of steel is rocketing worldwide at the moment and that has got to filter down at some point in time to the end user.

Benson had his feet done yesterday...£65 for the set which I think is pretty reasonable. Seems about the average price in Bristol and surrounding areas!

ARRRRRRRRRR DO you have the same farrier as me by anychance becasuse if so I can expect I nice bill when I see hime this week.....Mind you he is a good one which are hard to fine these days....
