Guess who has arrived!

Bless him so helpful:D I hope it all goes really well for you. He certainly fell on his feet lucky boy.

In fairness, BB did ask for critiques and the ones she got were valid! I also stand by my additionial comment that he could well change quite a bit once muscled up and feeling well. Of course there is no such thing as a perfect horse confirmation wise (or very rarely) and of course, that is no indication of the character/performance of the horse. However most people try to buy something with as little problems as possible to try to reduce risk further down the line.

BB asked for critiques to see if she had missed anything. I thought the comments were fair and she obviously took them into consideration. This meant she has bought this new horse with her eyes very wide open set her expectations accordingly! I thought she sat the new boy very well and was obviously enjoying him so .. good luck BB and I too look forward to the updates.

So glad you are pleased with him and he's settling well. Are you absolutely sure he's 6? He really does look closer to 3 - more so in the PG pics.

Seems the feeling's mutual though and he's got a soft spot for you too :).

Will look forward to updates and improvements now he's in better fitting tack - are you going to scope for ulcers? He could not have shown you more pain indicators if he tried in the vid you posted from initial viewing. Shame that the general opinion was that he was 'trying it on' :(

He is definately 6 yes. It says so in his passport, and is clarified online, so either he has an identical older brother, or hes actually 6! lol

He will be back checked, teeth rasped etc etc over the next few weeks, not going to do it all too quickly lol.

I dont think the general opinion was that he was 'trying it on'. Everyone seemed to agree he was in pain, hence why he will be fully checked over before anything happens [=

I saw the other post and wish you luck with this little chap.

However what I would like to say is that I have had some real frights on horse back and my brain still lets me down and say sudden movement or alertness means a bolt a buck or that I'm about to die. I was very impressed by your calm and patient way and hopefuly that will stick in my brain as I am out trying horses this weekend. So Good Luck.

I am so so pleased for you both and really look forward to lots of lovely pics and updates as you turn him into a star!! He is very, very lucky to have found you and I really wish you every success x

I didnt comment on your other thread and probably shouldnt comment on this one, but my once silent opinion remains the same in that I would have had to have been paid a considerable sum to take this horse away. I too am a sucker for greys but this one isnt worth meat money (IMO). I do credit your stickability and unflappable nature and to save the poor mite from being shot, you have jumped in feet first and taken him on. My hat is off to you Becxy, I look forward to following your progress and being prooved untterly wrong. Best of luck

Well, luckily for him, I have seen something within him that makes him worth every penny I paid. Please evaluate on why he isnt worth meat money, everyone else on each thread has explained to me how they came to their conclusions, so please do the same for me

In the video that I watched, yourself and the onlookers were excusing willful and stubborn (presuming the horse isnt in pain) behaviour as having a fly on his tummy, the horse is 6 years old and doesnt appear to be established or broken correctly (again IMO) or in acceptance of aids/seat/surroundings. Video showed him napping and doing everything he knows how to remove his rider, not the temperament that I would pay money for that is for certain. He is very poor which I understand willl only be temporary with good grub and decent turn out but again adding to the reason why I wouldnt pay money for him. If you can turn around all of those evasions I will eat my words, hence the good luck and best wishes for you. You look more than capable of realising that he needs taking right back to basics, so as I say... very best of luck and keep us posted.

I dont think it was willful and stubborn behaviour. He looks in pain looking back. I wasn't sure being on him what he was doing exactly, my partner filming is not horsey, and the owner didnt seem to know. Looking back, that is a classic of a horse in discomfort, not being naughty!

No, hes not extablished, or properly broken, but thats what I wanted! I want something that I can work on as mine [=. He also wasn't trying to remove his rider, again, I put that down to discomfort. Had he wanted me off, he would have done so, Im positive of it!

In my opinion, and many others, there is nothing seriously wrong with the way he is behaving, other than him being in pain, and expressing that. Hes a lovely horse, and Id prefer to pay for a lovely horse on the ground, to work on being ridden, than a horrible horse on the grounf that is fine on top. Just my opinion, but hey, whatever people prefer [=

Sometimes in life you have to have a little gamble. I think this one was good, you went into this with your eyes wide open and have considered every option. You look more than capable to bring him on and sort him out and he has a lovely temperment so you are halfway there already.

Good luck with him he is lovely, he is never going to be a plod but suspect you wouldnt want one of those either. You cant beat a TB, please keep us updated.
