I have a nomination to Guidam (obviously frozen); we tried three times last year to no avail. The mare did take on the 3rd attempt but the embryo did not progress and was aborted at about 4 weeks.
At that point it was getting a little bit late in the year so we decided to wait until this year to start over.
So here we are again and I really am in a quandary as to whether to try this again.
Pro's:
1. We have a 2yr old by Guidam out of this mare and she is an absolute cracker; we wouldn't even consider letting her go.
2. The mare obviously crosses very successfully with him.
3. As he is now sadly deceased offspring are a rare commodity.
Cons:
1. Cost of having to go through the events of last year once more to have an empty mare.
My heart says try once more; my head says no don't do it and start looking at alternatives.
So I have decided to cop out and see if anyone on this forum can make the decision for me
