My friends horse has this strange lump on her mouth. Her owner has just spotted it tonight.

She's eating fine, both chaff, hay and grass and seems happy in herself. She's getting the vet out Monday to take a look. She had the vet to rasp her teeth same time as I did Lari which was around March this year and all was well.

Huh?
The horse has the vet coming today- no one on the forum has x-ray eyes. You've already had sensible suggestions as to what it could be.
Okay. I was only asking if there was someone else as I'm a little worried. I find it strange that no one has seen this before.

I have seen the same thing, but not in a horse,in a cat. Sadly in my cat's case it was oral cancer which is why I didn't say anything at first,I didn't want to worry anyone even more.
I hope this is something completely different and treatable.
Sorry to hear about your cat. Did it appear quickly or was is relatively slow growing?

Well it's hard to say ,she did suddenly have trouble eating and then I looked in her mouth and found it but it could have been growing slowly. However it certainly wasn't over a long time and it felt to me that it had appeared from nowhere.

Thank you so much for your kindness and help with this. X

OK so I've been worried sick as it was actually Lari who has the lump . The vet has come out and removed it. It will be biopsied and I get the result on Friday which isn't going to be a good day for me anyway but hopefully it will be a bit of positive news in all the sadness.

She's xrayed and it doesn't appear to have any bone involvement so I'm very relieved.

He's been an absolute trooper, and very amenable. 😇 He's now very hungry for his tea but I have to wait until 7pm till the sedation has worn off. Managed to pinch a little bran off someone and mixed with a bit of speedi beet for a mash.

I can't believe the speed its grown. He stuck his tongue out luckily for a treat when I turned him out Saturday which is when I first noticed it. After reading online how quickly some tumours grow its been a worrying time as it wasn't there present on Monday.

Oh gosh. So sorry birker. Poor lari and poor you.
Sometimes life really does throw the works at you; I really hope it's nothing sinister. Lari is one HHO horse I really like, he seems such a sweetheart.
Thank you. I'm sure he'll be ok. It's just all getting on top of me with the funeranon Friday, the house sale issues and now Lari. Sure it will all work out.
