Grab that skewbald I liked - he would be a nice match for Chancer and as said, bit of work and he could be a nice show type - good head and body shape - mmmmm so tempted to get down with my trailer.
Good God, I had to double-take then, I could have sworn one of them was mine - exactly the same markings, height, build, everything!! Actually, I'm just on my way to the yard now to see mine since yesterday, hope he's still there. Mind you, if he isn't then at least I know where he is lol..
Jenny McGregor at the Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies in Monmouth might be able to help, although I'm not sure they look like rescue cases really. She might have info on the owner though as I know she's picked up a few in this area and out towards Newport.

Hide em all......... and give them to welcoming HHOers as you see fit!
We had this, 3 horses put in our hay field, thethered without access to water, so we were watering them............. which according to the RSPCA is wrong, they could of done something if the horses had been left for 5 days without water............ erm yeah like we were going to stand by and let that happen!

5 days!!! Are they for real? Absolute waste of space they are.
Ishy, what a nightmare for you, hope it all gets sorted, keep us updated as to what happens.
At least these look in good order. The ones around where I keep my mare look very rough and the conditions they are kept in are deplorable but no-one will do anything about it despite numerous complaints by the public. Warning to everyone - do not under any circumstances ever accept so much as a penny for rent if gypo horses are put on your land. You will never get them off, and then they claim you have sold the land to them.
I regularly see a group of trotting horses shoved on land. They are in nice healthy condition and are clearly a large family group including a stallion and pregnant mares and those with foals at foot. Who do these people think they are though, by putting horses anywhere they damn well feel like for a few days free grazing.
I do understand why people do it. It just drives me insane because they din't have to pick up the peices when the yard is trashed from rampaging horses!
I have gone out and put out a nice shiney sign on the gate that says 'DO NOT OPEN THESE GATES TO LET HORSES IN'
I think since they obviously don't care where they put these horses you should pick what you want and move them somewhere else for a while, they would have no proof of ownership to get them back would they?
Then the rest you should do a listing on here and any HHOer who wants a free pony can bring a trailer and have their pick. Your field will be clear in no time.
ORRR you could put a sign up on the gate saying free horses, come and pick one up and take it home.
Seriously though, hope it gets sorted. tbh they should probably all be confiscated because every one knows full well if they move off your grazing they will end up on someone elses and so on. These people clearly don't have the means to keep horses, so they shouldn't be allowed to.
Sorry ISHY but I am imagining you running around like a blue-arsed fly after a load of horses, opening and shutting gates, only speeded up, with the Benny Hill music in the background

It was quite similar to that
Oh and I was wizzing around in my little orange car with a frantic look on my face
Will def back you up, had big row with police the other night and had to block my field entrance until 3 am!!! because they escaped. The police think its ok to break my field gate down and turn them all in with my two old arabs mare, the stallion constantly covered them (one is a maiden and was petrified) and he charged at me when I tried to get them out, in the end i had to jump on my old mare and gallop flat out to the other gate to get her out, while dad tried to keep him back, this worked for 5 mins til he just bull dozed down the gate. the police didnt want to know and he was there for 2 days!!!! our mares had to stay in the stables with the top doors closed
he wrecked loads of fencing, plus our girls were completeley lame and had to be swapped for an diseases and have anti botics as there girly bit were so swollen from being covered so much in a short space of time
and the police never paid for the damage to my field gate and confirmed if they escape again they WILL put them back in with the 2 old girls or my mare and new born foal, even though I explained it could cause one of them to die.
its the same stallion that was at ISHYS yard this morning
the ppl who own them are terrible, they never bother to come out, and the horses seem to constantly be breaking out, im terrified one is going to get killed on the road , and the heartbreaking thing is the little foals with them i was crying my eyes out the other night, the poor little things
Apologies, as I haven't read all the thread but, the land owner has a legal liability to care for these horses for now. They CANNOT be turned out onto the road or sold. It must be shown that the land owner has taken every step to show that attempts have been made to contact the owner. If the owner is not known/found then, after 14 days, they can be sold.
