well having read through most posts on this forum, even going right back to 2008 etc, this site can be very informative but for some of us (not so veteran members) it can be a very scary place to post, iv had horses since i was 2 yrs old but grew up with the old fashioned way of doing things, i however like to treat my horses with respect not a numpty not an expert, sometimes its just nice to have a second opinion, on here tho unless your in the click you either get no replies or a torrent of abuse (and spelling seems to be a hatred ) just wanted to say that i shall continue to browse but dnt think i will bother posting again, hopefully nt all newbys will feel this way or you will all just be arguing with yourselves seems a shame that such a good forum would have people afraid to post.

Look at how many members have yet to place one post !!

Oh dear sorry you feel that way, i've not read that far back, but some resent posts have gotten into an all out bitch war, and some trying to restart threads that have been removed and start it all again but i find most informative and pleasent.

Its a shame people feel they cant post-:(
If I was after advice there are some very clever people out there and would appreciate their help. Sadly there does seem to be a lot of arguing and "my opinion means more than yours" brigade.

And its not only newbies getting put off, its people who have been on the forum for a long time aswell.

Sometimes "ask the expert" becomes a war zone!

;) ..its scarey isn't it? ..i would be so scared to ask a horsey question .. (if i ever get another horse again i will have a zillion questions i'd be terrified to ask!!) ..but i do like reading the forum .. xx

The majority of people here are lovely and give excellent advice. However it is true, there are some really spiteful people and they love to torment or ridicule people. If you really don't like a person you can press the ignore button and then you won't be able to see what they post.

I hope you stick with it 'cos there are some really lovely, kind and helpful people on here.

Ahhh join in!! No one really cares tbh and if you have some good advice then pleeeeease share!! Those with a shred of conscientiousness will appreciate it and be able to gloss over the witching and bitching so, welcome and don't go!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To be honest I do read most posts, but if I haven't had the same problem. How could I give you an answer same as most people on here, maybe just a suggestion but no more. So yes if you look on the far right, you will see how many of us have read your posts, but not qualified to answer.:):):):):)

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I sometimes find HHO very tedious to read through due to certain members appearing to not have heard of capital letters, full stops or paragraphs.

If you're not getting any replies, have you ever thought that it might be because people simply cannot trawl through a mass of incorrectly spelt words - it might be quick for you to type out posts in this way, but it takes other members three times as long to read them as they are so very hard to read!

Sorry you feel like that. I know what you mean. Don't stop posting - we need normal people on here! Don't worry about the silly replies that you get. Therer are some very annoying/ignorant child like people on here that can get rude and aggressive, you just have to remember that thats all they are!

Generally, if you have been on here for a while, even just reading, you start to work out who's opinions you respect, and who's you disregard. If a thread is over 3/4 pages long, and its on a topic that you wouldn't expect so many replies, theres normally a row going on, so its not worth reading! Funnily enough it seems to happen more on a Monday evening - hang overs perhaps!!

Seriously, just pick out the good stuff. For every annoying know-it-all on here there is at least one lovely, helpful person...

I agree with the others, don't be put off posting. Yes sometimes you will get a few strange or unkind replies, but the vast majority of people are lovely on here.

Re the spelling and puctuation, its really hard sometimes to make head nor tail of some posts, but as long as its understandable and not completely in text speak I don't thing you will get any abuse :)

I don't see why you would worry? nobody knows who you are, if you get nice replies - that's a bonus, if not - so what, you haven't lost anything.

Don't take things personally, don't worry about it, I'm a serial thread killer and bad speller - s*d what other people think ... just enjoy :)

Oi!!! I'm the serial thread killer!!!

yes how uncanny (for want of a better word ) that this post has the most replies lol

not worried or bothered it was just a little feedback, i shall continue to read but like i said posting i wont be doing, so any questions i have hopefully will show up in search.

i have a few friends who always read but have yet to post because they dont feel comfortable, it just seems a shame when we all have a huge thing in common (horses) that we cant just give and get advice but hey ho thats life, anyway i shall enjoy reading from the sideline x

Hey hun dont stop posting - yes you get the rude muppets but hey there is a lot of really nice ppl on here who - given my babymare probs and then big lad having probs - have been great with advice and support. Just ignore the muppets and enjoy coming on and chatting with the normal ppl

I will hold my hand up to bad typing and spelling at times but I just so want to get my words down my typing goes poo and mmmm I should check before posting but what the heck :)

Do people actually really care THAT much about spelling???

Personally I have not seen it on here, must be on the "important" threads then.

What about people with dsylexia and arthritis? And people with freezing fingers fresh off the yard???

Personally, I'm not too fussed about accidental typos - i got pulled up for saying stimulate instead of simulate t'other day ;) Was an interesting mistake...

If everyone just hits the enter key a few times throughout their posts then everyone will be happy ;)

as long as I can read the post and have something of use to add I will post on it

I looked to see which post you mean't and I presume you mean the on about the jumping saddle

Too be honest I was going to just post but do you think I could remember the name of my jumping saddle (which is what I think you were asking) I wasn't 100% if that is what you were asking. I'm tired!

if that was you question then my answer is I would have one with a low cantle so you can get your butt back. a square one. mine is the one made by thorowgood good but is leather I think it is kensington or something like that (I'm having an almost total blank)

edited cos it just came to me its a kent and masters and they cost around £800 new, search on here they get fab reviews

I do find that jumping saddles make a HUGE difference and so does a DR one its only recent years I have changed and wished I had done is years ago

There are some crappy people, just as there are in the real world, but there are plenty of great people to outnumber them. :)

I found that HHO is the same as any community... it just takes a while to worm your way in so to speak. I sometimes post topics which don't get many replies and I just forget about them. I think that the majority of time you will get replies from knowledgeable folk giving useful information, you just have to sift through the threads to get rid of the less helpful posts.

I appreciate the opportunity to ask for advice or for a second opinion, something which I think there is no shame in (even if I come across as a numpty by doing so). I hope that more new posters can feel the same.

I run a forum, you always get lots of members who never post. They join and then forget to do anything about it. Personally, as someone who knows she's definitely not in a clique, I think you're taking a rather negative view. The forum has it's ups and downs, as do they all.

Sorry you feel like that. The majority of users on here are friendly and offer good informative advice, there are always going to be a few that annoy you though just like in a real life yard - nobody gets on with everybody! I find it best to just ignore these few and continue using the forum for what it was set up for in the first place - to give advice/opinions, to ask for help/opinions and to talk to other like-minded people. :)

I am a nive horse owner - "shock horror"

and can honestly say i have only ever had good and infornmative advice on here - apart form one (and my god did i get some harsh replies), but must admit - after the recent post aimed at novicey owners i will be warey about posting questions - its a shame but im scared of looking stupid - i think horses may suffer, i loved it when knowlegable owners shared advice and tips - its sad xxx
