And it really was utterly disappointing

I wont list everything but, midway through the lady exclaimed "AND I LOAD" apparently coming from the big man himself...

errr.. NO YOU BLOODY DONT YOU MONKEY!!

Any of you that have read my threads will know that after hidious trauma, my horse absolutely will not load (we are fixing it gradually).

Nothing was accurate and almost everything was very vague - I asked about him not enjoying hacking, and he told her "I JUST DONT DO IT!"
Oh okay then :p

I believe my horse is of a spooky nature and is at times, genuinely terrified but she tells me he is a comedian and has been spoilt with previous owners so therefore this behaviour is just 'attitude' and it has just been pandered to in the past.

Now I know the girl who had hime before me and (she may be reading this) but she didnt spoil him to this degree, she didnt strike me as a horsewoman who would tolerate bad behaviour, similarly to me. I can see he may have been spoilt and until you ask something from him that is out of his comfort zone, he is like a little lamb.

I feel a bit 'had' if Im honest!

Well yes of course you were :)
They all spout a load of generic stuff which if they are lucky you will fit to your horse and if it is all wrong then they blame you for not believing. Total con!

can I ask who you used? pm if you prefer. I had my lads done this week, the lady was recommended to me, she doesn't advertise and she also does reiki healing too. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had and she knew things that no one else could have known, even down to locations of previous operation scars.

I had one too, and she told amazing me things I did not know [he was in for three weeks schooling in a new yard] but which were correct, she also gave him massage and released his hind leg, he loved his bum massage, swaying side to side. so it was worthwhile, expensive though, I am sure there are many charletons out there, so it it best to get one to give him a bit of physio so you get some help long term, I still give him a wee massage when he pushes his bum in my face lol. I was pretty sceptical but it was interesting.

There are many Fakes out there, a communication with a proper communicator would not have left you disappointed.

I had one a couple of years ago. Wasn't sure if it was good guess work or what really. Nothing was said that made me think, wow!! A few others had their horses seen and they were completely amazed!

This one came VERY highly recommended off here :(

I hope you told them that you couldn't relate to what was said! A good communicator will refund you or offer another reading. They can have off days like anyone and also non communicative horses, but the AC should want to leave you happy.

A few years ago I was discussing this very same thing with my down to earth farrier. He told me about one of his clients whose horse kept constantly jumping out of his field even though he had plenty of grass and company.

The client gets in a horse communicator and tells him the field is haunted and the horse is terrified hence the jumping out. The client moves all of the horses to another field the other side of the farm and guess what he still jumps out.

There are a lot of charlatons out there and people dont realise how much information theygive to communicators.

I saw a medium once who was brilliant, at the time I was transcribing a lot of parish records including some Devon ones. The same family names kept coming up in the records because people didnt move far in those days. Well this medium kept giving me these names and information about them which I was unable to verify but just thought it was fascinating. How did she know their names which were not common.?

What a shame. I have fancied getting one for my horse and pony (would love to know why my pony's so neurotic!). Would be interested if anyone has have a decent one in the North/Yorkshire area at all?

I do hope you did tell them they were completely off the mark with everything though!

I made a few 'thats not correct' and 'i dont agree' comments but I didnt have the heart to tell her how disappointed I was because I am so fickle and she was such a nice lady! I am just composing an email to her now explaining what a felt about it all!

Cooper Wilson, I had him do a reading over the phone, he was pretty much spot on- quite amazing really as he had never met my horses, nor did I give him any prior info, to begin with he told me I had a round white one and skinner brown one :eek:, he COULD not have known that info.

Yes, well you won't get the answer to any particular question, she told me he was telling her things [a lot of moans btw], did not like this, or that, etc, I asked her to tell him not to be a naughty boy, , but that did not work unfortunately.

That's a shame. I had someone who was recommended in another thread a few weeks back talk to my mare recently and have to say the report she sent actually made my blood run cold, it was scarily accurate. The first thing the lady in question reported was something diagnosed via a scan just 2 days before and unless she either works at the vets (she did it remotely from a photo, lives about 100 miles away) or is one of my family / best friends in a bizarre second life, which I would doubt, she could not have known. She said many more things that add up to her 'personality' and environment / people. Another was that the horse said tack was fine but her ears hurt in her bridle. Being a lazy @rse I'd changed a bit the night before but didn't lengthen the cheek pieces quite enough so just wedged her ears in (sorry, horse). If that was a con it's a damn impressive one!

Who did u use? The lady I used was really good! :)

Would be really interested to know who you both used.

this. you should get a full refund if it doesn't fit at all with what you know of your horse. i did, very fair.

I had an amazing reading done, by e-mail photo a couple of years ago, as part of the Ac's training. I was very sceptical about it, until the event! My mare now drops in for a chat with this AC, fairly often, uninvited but the AC lets me know she has been around, and what she has wittered about this time :D

It's cobblers of the worst kind - preying on people's vulnerability when they have often tried every other option. Honest to god, ask yourself, if this nonsense actually worked, then there'd be University courses in it, there'd be a communicator on every vet's staff and no need for expensive and time consuming diagnostics.

Box of frogs, not in my case, didn't pay a penny and had no real issues with the mare, and knew a fair bit of her background. I did find it very interesting and having since met the AC consider her to be a genuine person who has no intention of preying on anyone!

Thank you Box of Frogs. I don't understand why people can't see what a load of crock this all is.

Honestly it really is the worst kind of charlatan behaviour.

Read anything by Derren Brown. It will dispele any myths
He did an amazing experiment where he did readings for several people. They ALL couldn't believe how accurate they were. They said they were 'spooky' 'things no-one could have known about them'

....it was exactly the same reading for every single person :)

The problem with horseowners is that we are so desperate to think we are making our horses 'happy' that they 'love' us (and other human emotions that we pin to animals) that we are easy targets.

We had one come to our yard, that a livery was paying for. Being very verbally sceptical, the AC offered me a free reading to "prove" theirselves. I grabbed little pony from stable, led her up to the AC and tied her to the wall for the reading.

AC spoke to little pony. Little pony declared her love for me, how much she loved being ridden by the children, she was curious, inquistive, loved new people. When asked about her past AC was told that little pony had a good past, a little girl owner had loved her and put her in pink, she missed her but was happy with me.

All of which is total rubbish! Little pony was beaten and abused in the past, couldn't be caught in the stable (except by me - thus why I'd brought her out of the stable as an AC would have walked into the stable and little pony would have run to the back, thus been obvious). Little pony has never been backed as we'd tried in the past, but because of how difficult she is to catch we'd never risk putting a child on her in case they fell off and we couldn't retrieve Little pony. Little pony hated new people, ran away from them. Would only tolerate them if I'd caught her and was holding her or had tied her to the safe spot on the wall. This included farrier, vet and people on livery yard she saw daily. Only 3 people were allowed (by Little pony) into her stable, and she was affectionate with 2 of us. Me being the only one allowed to catch her, remove headcollar etc.

So I was very disappointed, told AC all of this. AC then accused me of trying to "trick" them, then said they'd only done a brief reading (as unpaid) and apparently Little Pony had a little girl owner in a past life who dressed her in pink. AC was just getting confused as Little ponies past life had come through, not her present  very convienient!

So remain as sceptical as ever. Would love to find out horses pasts, would be great if they spoke, but really don't believe it's possible. Little pony has perfect home for life and that's all that matters to me :)

WHole heartedly agree with Box of Frogs. I think these people are just incredibly good at reading body language and brilliant at , for want of a better word, manipulating people into telling them things without them realising. Much of what they say is so general it will apply to most situation.

I seem to recall watching a Derran Brown experiment where he gave about 20 people each a letter and everyone insisted that what was written in it was exactly about them. He'd given them all, word for word, the same letter. Instinctively people want to believe what they're told so make it fit themselves, it's done subconsciously.

I had a session done a couple of years ago and whilst a total waste of money in terms of telling me anything I've had my £20 worth in giggles since then, Here's the tale of my Communicator Session, who funnily enough has been mentioned in this thread!

Although a novel, read Christopher Brookmyre's "The Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks" for excellent thoughts into how 'reading' is done.
